We were made to feel very welcome at this stylish and friendly hotel. The room was quiet, clean & comfortable with every required amenity. The hotel is in good location. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Cape town.

This was such a good find. It's really close to the Waterfront, has a lovely pool with sun loungers, huge spacious rooms and a good breakfast. Staff were incredibly helpful with everything and even sent a fax for us! Would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: The balcony rooms are pretty special - top floor!

We spent four nights here on a short break to Cape Town. The hotel was very clean, good size comfortable beds and roomy shower. The outside area for breakfast was lovely and breakfast itself is freshly cooked to order. The staff are happy to serve snack food in the afternoon ,or drinks from the bar by the pool .We did not have a car but managed to walk to some nice restaurants about 10 minutes away. About a 20 minute walk to the V&A waterfront. Taxis are very reasonably priced if you dont want the walk.
The staff and service really make this hotel a little gem.

Room Tip: We booked the basic accommodation, a room at the side with no view, but it was quiet and had blackou...

Great little hotel close to the waterfront (def a great base for everything in central CT). We stayed for 2 nights over the Christmas period after our wedding and received a welcome fruit basket and congrats card from all the staff (which was really nice of them). Staff were great and friendly esp Donald. The hotel has a pool area which is a little sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of Cape Town (very quiet, no road noise). Wish we could have had longer here.

Room wise, we stayed in a classic double and overall happy with the décor and comfort of the room. The aircon was godsend!

We chose this hotel as this was our second week in Cape Town and we wanted to be closer to the 'action' ie Waterfront, etc. First week was in Llandudno for my daughter's wedding.

When we arrived at the outside of the hotel, I was a little disconcerted at the front gates - they are large and grey and not particularly welcoming looking; once behind the gates, this hid the six or so parking spaces for guests cars. Down the steps to reception and a tranquil scene awaits you; soft music, nice ambience and this looks onto the breakfast area, the small lounge area and the pool area. We were shown around the various spaces by Tendai and to our room.

If memory serves me right, we had chosen a deluxe room with a balcony - room 2 - this overlooked the sea (although not much of a sea view because of a building in front of the hotel) and the balcony looked down into the pool area.

The hotel was very quiet overall and we appeared to be the longest staying guests whilst there (a week) when others appeared to stay for one or two nights and then moved on.

The staff cannot be faulted - Tendai, Donald, the night man (didn't get his name) and the breakfast ladies - service was 100% from everyone. Very friendly staff.

The room itself - average size with bathroom and very large shower. I found it difficult to dry my hair as the plug points were nowhere near a mirror and the dryer cord didn't reach either, so that as a small challenge. We asked if they had softer pillows as they were very hard for our taste and a day or so later, we were given slightly softer ones, though not feathers.

We drove around where we needed to go, but even if you don't have a car, it's very easy for reception to call you a cab. On two occasions however we found he cab drivers pulled a fast one thinking we were tourists, ie going the opposite way to where we needed to go and then winding back again (we have Scottish accents, but have lived in Jhb for nearly 40 years and have been to Cape Town on numerous occasions) so we had to pull them up about that (nothing to do with the hotel though - just mentioning it so that others are aware).

We had a lovely week overall though in the hotel and if we decide we need a more central point, we will definitely book the One 8 Hotel again.

Room Tip: We were in Room No 2 with a balcony which overlooked the pool. It was described as having a sea vie...

This place was a real find. The rooms were large, stylish and very clean. The location was good for the money but it depends how near you want to be the waterfront. We chose not to walk in the dark, so it was a little frusrtaing curbing the Sauvignan Blanc consumption so we coud drive back.
The staff were very friendly, as were the other guests. It didnt feel like a guesthouse but more a compact hotel which suited us really well.
We missed out on the weekday breakfasts as we had to be out early but there was a continental spread that was fine.
Overall, really good value for money and I expect in summer, when the poole etc is in action, it would be great.
