Owner description: Indoor climbing at CityROCK is a fun way of exercising in a safe and vibrant environment. Climbing is not about sitting on a treadmill for what feels like hours - each climb is different and will challenge you every time both physically and mentally. Our climbing facilities include a large bouldering area (bouldering is climbing 3-4m high without a rope) and high walls for roped climbing. We cater to many different audiences - from first-time kids to experienced outdoor climbers, and everyone in between. CityROCK is more than just a climbing gym, it is where like-minded people meet and share their passion for climbing. Our coffee shop area has a relaxed vibe and is the ideal place to meet friends, climbing partners and make plans for your next trip. Free Wi-Fi makes it a great spot to interact through your social media network, while having coffee, chatting, or browsing through climbing magazines and route guides. We also cater for children's birthday parties and corporate events. We have a well-established yoga studio that caters for a variety of yoga styles, and we also offer various climbing training courses for kids and adults alike. Our operating hours are: Mon/Wed 09:00-21:00, Tue/Thur 09:00-22:00, Fri 09:00-19:00, Sat/Sun 09:00-18:00, Pub Holidays 10:00-18:00 CityROCK is also the home of the finest specialist outdoor gear shop in the country. We stock a variety of top local and international brands and our friendly staff will be able to assist you in kitting up with the best gear for your next adventure. We pride ourselves on service excellence and our staff is always available to assist in any way. So why not give us a call or pop in and try it out, you are never too old or too young to try something new.

“Perfectly safe exercise for adventurers”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

My children, aged 10 and 12 years, have been climbing at City Rock for the past 5 years and are excited to visit each time. We spend many hours there while they climb and explore their inner strengths and weaknesses. I would recommend it to anyone. Great value for money as well. The instructors are helpful and friendly and really enjoy climbing as well.

“Not just walls...”
Reviewed 26 October 2013 via mobile

My wife, her brother and I found out about this activity off a search on TripAdvisor when we were already in Cape Town. We had our 8 month daughter with us which made for its own fun as she screamed ecstatically a lot more than the rest of us!

About 10 minutes drive from the city centre. We called a day early to reserve a guide to help for our first set of climbs. She helped for an hour. We then climbed unaided. Be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before your slot to complete indemnity forms and fit your harness. We arrived late and shortened our time with the guide. Also, dress in shorts, socks and a t-shirt. Shoes are provided.

It was a most fun experience which we all thoroughly enjoyed. By the time we'd left, our arms were dead!

“brilliant for the kids and grown ups too, especially on a rainy day!”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

My son and I went in the winter school holidays and had a ball racing each other up the various climbing walls, and trying out the more technical - some seemingly impossible climbs. - Suits all ages, and is very safe.
