This is a real touristy thing to do. African music, food and dancing. It was the last night of our wonderful tour and the restaurant was a perfect place to end on a high note!

What I liked:
- attended the drumming session before the dinner and show. The instructor was very funny and slower but surely we were able to do a little tune. It was definitely good fun !
- the menu was pan-African and the sampling allowed you to enjoy a lot of delicious different dishes in small quantities. If you liked something - the waitress could bring a second serving
- the service was extremely friendly and excellent
- the decor was lovely and a perfect stage for the show
- extremely clean washroom ... LOL!!
- really, really enjoyed the show ... the dancing and singing was great. They encouraged people to join in a dance

What I didn't like:
- the pricing of the restaurant shuttle is a flat fee. This is fine if your hotel is far away, but if you are close by the price is higher than a taxi. It took some talking and negotiating to get them to agree to matching the taxi. Not too pleasant after a completely enjoyable evening.

We wanted to try typical South African foods but had no idea where to go. Fortunately, our travel package (travelzoo.com) included dinner at Gold. When we arrived we were shown to an auditorium with many couches, instead of theater seats, facing the stage. We got a 30-minute Djembe drumming lesson!

For dinner we were seated at tables of 10 and dinner was served family style with platter after platter of food being served, each with an explanation of what the dish is and where it originated. We got to try things we would not have otherwise "experimented" with like Springbok (delicious).

The entertainment was authentic dancing, singing and drumming in local costumes throughout the various dining areas with breaks in between. The diners are encouraged to join in the dancing and before long we'd made new friends with others at our tables.

Definitely an entertaining and yummy evening!
