Gun Smoke, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Big Valley and other movies or TV shows that take you waaaaay back. iKhaya Lodge gives you that Western Adventure in the midst of the hustle and bustle of modern party town Cape Town. You get that Rustic Nostalgia feeling time you walk into reception. My group had a ball staying there. If you need to party, there's a bar/restaurant right across the parking lot that serves the best drinks and burgers. What more do you need?

Room tip: The best views are the front facing rooms. The ones that faces the restaurant across the parking lot.

Dear Keith,

Thank you for the vibrant and unique review and the great thumbs up! We certainly aim to give that 'out in the bundu feel' of taking a walk on the wild side and you've captured it vividly. We enjoyed meeting you all and hope you will be coming our way again. Summer is around the corner when our little square gets even more vibey and views of Table Mountain and Lion's Head from our patio and balconies, offer the best accompaniment to a refreshing sun downer! See you soon!

After travelling overland across Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and SA this was my last lodging on the continent, and probably my favourite.
My first floor room had a conservatory overlooking the square and breakfasting in it as the sun lit up Table Mountain behind it was really special. The rooms and hotel generally are decorated very tastefully in Zulu style. I'd say whoever designed the decor has a real eye for it.
Location good, in a quietish area tucked away but able to walk to city centre.
Cool bar across the square that stays open late, good range of beers and attracted a slightly alternative crowd.
Staff helpful and polite and they offered a cooked breakfast or omelette as well as buffet breakfast if you wanted.

Room tip: Ask for first floor facing the square (North) if you want a conservatory and view of Table Mountain

Ikhaya is a lovely hotel on Dunkley Square with traditional African decor. The second floor rooms facing the Square have a furnished enclosed balcony with a sliding glass door; the third floor rooms facing the Square have an open balcony. There is no elevator, but the stairs are easily navigable.

There is a free breakfast, but I did not eat there, so can't comment. There is also a computer for guests to use. The hotel is quiet and in a quiet neighborhood, but it is directly opposite a very popular bar/cafe that has outdoor seating. Consequently, there is some noise, but I did not find it disturbing.

The hotel is near Company's Garden and only about a 10-15 minute walk to busy Long Street. There is also a City Sightseeing Hop on-Hop off bus stop about a 5-minute walk from the hotel (opposite the 5-star Mount Nelson Hotel). I liked the location because it is in the City Centre and walkable to several attractions, but not right in the thick of the hustle and bustle of Long St. or Kloof St.

The staff at the hotel is outstanding. Very professional, polite, and accommodating. They can arrange transportation to and from the airport, and the driver can also do personalized tours. He is very knowledgeable and experienced, but a bit expensive, so I recommend you negotiate the price of a personalized tour, or at least comparison shop to be sure you are getting a good deal.

I really enjoyed my stay at Ikhaya, and would gladly stay there again on my next trip to Cape Town.
