We stayed at the Taj on the 10th and 11th December while we were in Cape Town for or daughter's geaduation at UCT. It was fabulous. The decor in the room was beautiful. The service was excellent. One didn't feel as if in a large impersonal hotel. On the contrary the service was extremely personal and one felt as if one wasan important guest. We got a specialon bookings.com and our rate was very reasonable for the quality of the hotel. It is centrally located in the city and it was a nice different perspective on Cape Town. Our package didn't include breakfast but there are coffee shops in the mall outside. We would return to the Taj in a heartbeat

Our family had a lovely time we had at the Taj Cape Town. The service was extraordinary. Millicent in particular was wonderful to deal with.

The accommodation was excellent, the rooms and turn-down service were beautifully decorated and well-executed. Mint, the restaurant, was perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not to mention the people! Every member of the staff showed the utmost professionalism.

The Taj provided a high level of service. It made all the difference. We will continue to recommend the Taj to our friends.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of Table Mountain

Stayed for 5 nights while in SA on business and enjoyed everything about this great hotel. The rooms were very nice and spacious, clean and with some of the best beds i have ever tried.
Staff were polite and helpful - only negative i can point to is that it always took a long time to get the bill from the breakfast restaurant.
The indian restaurant that is also in the hotel is excellent, with a great wine selection.

Location is about 50 meters from Long street where there are several restaurants and bars.

Overall i really enjoyed my stay and would come back

Although part of the Taj group, this hotel has it's own unique sense of place and charm and is not a spin off of the Indian properties. It certainly does not seem like a chain hotel, and all the staff go the extra mile to please and engage with the guests. Accommodations vary significantly in size and style but throughout the hotel, the sense of timeless hospitality, and luxury prevail. Spectacular Indian dining at Bombay Brasserie, but unfortunately just an OK breakfast and lunch experience at the bistro restaurant.

Well worth considering, and a lot better than other 5 star properties in the area

My family and I recently stayed at The Taj in Cape Town, South Africa. We enjoyed the beautiful 2 bedroom suite with a gorgeous wrap around terrace. The views were amazing and the hotel was superb. The rooms were beautifully appointed with top quality linens and ammenities. We enjoyed delicious breakfast buffets each morning as well as ordering off the a la carte menu. The staff was delightful and the concierge service superb. We were concerned about staying in downtown Cape Town as most of our friends had recommended staying in a hotel in the V&A waterfront area. Once we understood the difference in the 2 locations, we were quite happy to be in the city as the waterfront area is quite touristy and generic. The Taj is located right off the Company's Garden and easily accessible to a variety of interesting activites in the city. We definitely made the right choice. I would highly recommend The Taj to anyone planning a visit to Cape Town. Oh, and the Bombay Brasserie restaurant was an excellent choice for dinner while we were there.

I stayed at the Taj during a business trip in November 2011. I truly enjoyed my stay at the Taj. The lounge/bar is great, the rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and most have great views of the CT skyline (including Table Mountain). My colleagues raved about the India restaurant at the hotel. Breakfast and free wifi included in our rate as a bonus. The staff are very professional and friendly. I can highly recommend staying at this hotel if you're in town for business or pleasure. It's location is ideal and in a relatively safe part of the city bowl area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with views on both sides of the hotel.
