We have just returned from our 9th trip to South Africa. We go each year to participate in the Cape Mental Health Int'l Kite Festival. But we always spend about week visiting friends, doing safari and enjoying Cape Town.

This year we stayed at the Pepper Club as a friend owns one of the units. We did pay a reduced rental fee but on-line discounts are certainly affordable for this upscale property.
We had few bumps during our stay (a stranger was issued the same key to our room, sent to a restaurant that had closed 6 months earlier, phone in the room didn't work until they fixed it at our request), but the staff was very attentive and accomodating once these problems were addressed with the manager.

The location is not near the waterfront (walking is possible though), but we really enjoyed being near the clubs, newest restaurants, eclectic shopping and in an area that was still quite safe and loaded with local flair and architecture. We also really enjoyed walking through the "Company Gardens" which is quite large and uniquely different than Kirstenbosch. Kirstenbosch has a fee to get in but quite worth the cost.(Company Gardens do not),

Enjoy a drink on the outside deck for a bit of people watching. I understand the Jazz on weekends is excellent though we missed it by being there on a Monday-Wednesday.

Weather was perfect for walking around but not too hot.

Ask for a room on a higher floor with views of Table Mountain. We were on the 16th.

Room Tip: The hotel provides transportation to a "sister" property with a wonderful restaurant. Enj...

I should have written this ages ago, as I've forgotten details now, but all I can really say is we started off our honeymoon here with two nights in June, and after a 13-hour overnight flight from London, landing at about 8am, we could not have been more warmly and caringly greeted, and more super-relaxed the minute we entered our room.

Our stay was very short, in the middle of winter, in a virtually empty hotel and we felt like royalty. Beautiful hotel, and the friendliest, most courteous and professional staff I've encountered (well, except for our second S.A. hotel, which I'll review later ;) )

Staff never looked bored or lazy - if there were no guests to take care off, glasses were carefully polished at the bar, or research done for guests currently seeing the city but returning later. One of the (senior?) staff, Blessing, really lived up to his name, and the girl who greeted us at the reception desk at 8:30 am welcomed us like old friends.

We had two massages in the spa and the treatment, once again, was top notch. View of table mountain from the spa and view of Lion's Head from our room. The room was beautifully appointed with the most fantastic and interesting bathroom.

On our second night the hotel was taken over by some big whisky company I currently forget the name of (Jim Beam perhaps) for a corporate promotion hooley, with a sudden influx of several hundred extra guests and a swarming foyer, at staff attutude and behaviour never altered a smidge towards any guest. No request was too small or too big.

There was a bit of a problem with our DVD player, and a guy from maintenance came up straight away to fix it, and when he couldn't it was promptly replaced.

Ok, so I'm not great at this reviewing malarky (it's my first time ;)) and I must sound like some kind of frothing shill, but I cannot say enough good things about the staff at this hotel. We were simply made feel so at home, we were so spoiled and looked after in the gentlest, least intrusive way. And any staff member we interacted with responded in kind to our often slightly wacky sense of humour. Real, genuine people, who entered the hospitality industry to provide hospitality and service, and deserve much respect and gratitude from those on whom they wait hand and foot.

We promised faithfully to return, and we will. Don't know when, 10th anniversary possibly, but I think I can safely say that I won't stay anywhere else in Cape Town. They set our honeymoon off absolutely perfectly.

Oh, I should probably also add that the food was very, very good, from cheese melt sandwich at lunch, to dinner in Sinatra's, to breakfast in the morning. Nyom! (and we're big foodies)

Room Tip: Upper floors for great vistas. Ask for one either with a view of Table Mountain or LIon's Head.

Woweee! What a fabulous review! You have certainly spiced up our day and I shall pass on all your good words to the staff.

We are absolutely thrilled that you enjoyed your time with us. We hope that the fond memories of your honeymoon will carry you through until we see you again although 9 years is too long and we hope that we see you sooner rather than later.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay and we look forward to your next stay with us.

We recently redeemed a Wicount voucher for dinner & a private movie at the Pepper Club Hotel.
Our host for the evening was Eddy Lamport who went out of his way to ensure that we were comfortable and having a good time.
The private cinema is intimate with good quality sound and perfect to relax to a good movie (we were even allowed to take our wine in!).
Dinner was excellent, and the hotel ensured that my dietary requirements (vegetarian) were adhered to.
Thanks for a wonderful evening, we were very impresssed with the service from The Pepper Club Hotel :-)

From the minute we walked in till we checked out the hotel; we were greeted by friendly staff and at this luxury hotel.

Super generous rooms with the most exquisite finishes and great attention to detail in the finished.

Very helpful staff on hand all the time. We had a problem with our ac and someone was in the room to sort it out in less than 5min and this was over a particularly busy period.

The breakfast was fabulous and there is a variety to chose from; their restaurant is calm and sophisticated makes one feel like they are in a spa.

Their spa is a well oiled machine with a variety of treatments to suit everyone's need. Their gym yet small is kitted out with everything you will need.

This is sure one of the hotels to try in the city even if its for an afternoon drink or to sit on their opulent red sofa. Though you will not regret a nights stay either.

Room Tip: Chose the mountain facing rooms.

This was our first stop on our honeymoon following our wedding...and what a start! From the moment we walked into reception right through to the end of our 4 day stay, we were made to feel very special indeed, as were all guests we often observed. Jazeed in particular ensured that we saw the very best of Cape Town, giving us excellent suggestions and making bookings on our behalf. The hotel itself was very clean and modern, with the gym looking out over Table Mountain. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff, as alluded to above, were professional and friendly. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Request a room with a view of Table Mountain.
