“Quite Nice”
Reviewed 18 May 2012

I stayed here for 3 nights along with a group on a leisure tour.

The rooms are very big and very nicely done. Bath rooms are big too with bath tub, separate rain shower, amenities etc. The only tricky part about the bath room is that there is literally no space near wash basin to keep your personal items like tooth paste, shaving gell etc. I had to keep my stuff over tissue paper box kept between the two wash basins.

There is a mini kitchen in the room, big size wardrobes, locker, tea/coffee making machine. Wifi was free in the room with password provided in the welcome letter. I had a room with the view of Table Mountain which was lovely. The hotel is very clean and very well maintained.

I was not happy with the choices available at breakfast. It was just 3* quality. There are only two restaurants in hotel.

The location of the hotel is very good. Just behind the hotel is the street with all the nighlife activity - bars/pubs, restaurants, clubs etc. If you want to have some party in Cape Town then this hotel is ideally located.

There are only two lifts in the hotel which are totally inadequate. One has to wait for a long time for the lift. There should have been at least one more lift. There is a service lift too but it also takes quite long to arrive because it is in constant use of hotel staff. Apart from the lift, the hotel has only one bottle opener! Well, this is what we were told when we asked for a bottle opener in the room. The guy came, opened the bottles and took the opener back.

Overall, I am happy to recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Cape Town. It is reasonably priced, centrally located, has very good rooms with a few shortcomings.

Room Tip: Ask for room with view of Table Mountain on a higher floor.

We chose the Pepperclub Hotel for rest & relaxation at the end of our 7 weeks travelling, what a fantastic choice it was. From our airport greeting to our transfer back to the airport the staff were attentive in every area and aspect. Congratulations to all staff & management. We would certainly stay here again and would recommend the Pepperclub Hotel to anyone travelling to Capetown.

What a great time we had staying at this hotel. Every morning we had the most wonderful breakfast buffet. All the staff at the hotel are very customer oriented and very friendly. They can't do enough to make your stay better. Within 1 block of Long Street where all the action is in the evening. They shuttle you to where you need to go. We had a wonderful experience and can't say enough good things about the Pepper Club. Thanks for a great stay.

Room Tip: We were on the 14th floor facing Table Mountain and had a spectacular view of the mountain and since...

Absolutely on no accounts should you get a room anyway near overlooking Long Street. The sounds on any day of the week are unbearable. No one enjoy a good time more than me but night after night of 5am carousing sounds is a bit much.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking Loop Street

Thank you for taking the time to bring to light the issues that took place during your stay with us. Being a city based hotel situated on Long Street, the active nightlife is part of the draw of being so centrally based.

I do wish that your discomfort was brought to our attention sooner in order for us to have assisted you with the matter by offering you an alternate room on a higher floor. In addition there are measures in place to address excessive noise emanating from the surrounding clubs and bars. Our hotel has direct contact with the Central City Improvement District who assist us with noise pollution from the surrounding establishments.

Our team members will gladly assist you with any matter, no matter how small, and I encourage you to take advantage of us and our skills on your next stay with us.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The first night was the worst one in any of our travels so far where we were unable to sleep due to room noise and the guys at the front desk were unwilling to help.
The reduced rating is attributed to the unresponsive and non-caring nature of the management of the hotel, the staff is limited by the powers given to them by the management.
So if you run into any issues - do NOT expect anyone to address your issues unless you have a good person at the front desk who is willing to help.

I sent an email to the General Manager, the Front Desk Manager, and the Reservations Manager, however neither of them even bothered to respond back or get in touch either during or after the stay. The content of the email should be sufficient review. I have been patient and hoping that someone would eventually respond, but after a month - i have now given up and hence posting this review for others benefit.

Make sure you do not get rooms on Long street unless you want to party all night in your rooms !

Mr Dean, Mr Ishaik, Ms Claudia,

I was hoping to have written to you in a better situation and to have been thanking you for a wonderful stay, but unfortunately I find myself in very opposite and difficult circumstances.

After a 36+ hour flight journey all one can hope for is a good night's sleep which was deprived from our family.

We were given room 5xx which was facing the clubs and the noise in the room was extremely loud and were told that there is no other alternative. We called about the noise situation at 1.45 am in the morning

To top it off the AC in the room subsequently stopped working and we were told that there is no other alternative. We called this in at 2.30am. The noise had still not reduced and the room was getting warmer.

Jacques from the front desk said that we would have to wait until 7am in the morning before we could talk to someone for alternate accommodations.

On being persistent and insistent pursuant to my son being unable to sleep with a headache due to the unwelcoming room temperature and noise conditions, Mr Lusandra from your front desk was understanding and tried his best to get us alternate room.

I even offered to get my family and get some bedsheets to sleep in your lobby which was quieter and cooler and had better conditions than the room.

It is just past 4.30am and we have been moved to an alternate room. In fact we were even waiting in the hallway for 15 minutes during the room change since the prior alternate room did not have a sofa bed.

In all fairness, Mr Jaques tried his best to help but we could see that he was helpless and it wasnt in his power to do anything.

It is an employee like Mr Lusandra who has managed to handle the situation. We must thank him for his sincere efforts to help us.

Also would like to recommend that you review your policies to ensure that a 5-star establishment such as yours does not have to get its guests to a sorry state as ours before you get them some relief.

Thank you for our attention to this matter and appreciate all your help.

Thank you for bringing to my attention the events that took place during your stay with us.This is completely unacceptable and I am personally horrified to hear of the occurrences that took place during your stay with us. Not only has no one responded to your e-mail, the manner in which this occurrence was addressed is not at all in accordance with our hotel ethos and for this, I sincerely apologise.

Please rest assured that I will personally follow up on this matter and revert to you via e-mail. I will investigate the circumstances that took place during your stay that resulted in this less than satisfactory incident in order to comprehensively respond to you and your family.
