“Going through transition at the moment but its best asset is its great staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2011

Hilton have only operated this hotel in Cape Town since April 2011, having acquired it from the previous owners, so it is still undergoing the transformation into the Hilton Brand.
We found all the staff to be very warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.
The room was spacious and very clean. Our room had a view of Table Mountain. Unfortunately the toiletries are not the usual Hilton offering of Crabtree & Evelyn but a rather unpleasant smelling brand. The bottles are clearly topped up during housekeeping as both our shower gel and conditioner had not been replenished, however the towels were large, white fluffy ones a pleasant surprise as of late Hilton seem to have been putting hankerchief sized "shower" towels in their rooms!
The Executive Lounge is not fully functional at the moment, it appears to have been a conference room which has hastily been turned into a Lounge, it is on a lower floor with absolutely no view, which is unusual for a Hilton who's Lounges are usual on higher floors affording great views of whichever city you are in, perhaps this is something that will be changed once the transition is fully completed.
The building itself has certainly seen better days and is need of some TLC in the public areas which resemble a 70's office block.
They operate a complimentary shuttle service from the hotel to the V&A Waterfront which is brilliant if you want to have a meal and drink away from the hotel.
We ate in the North Indian Restaurant in the hotel, the food, service and value for money was all excellent and well worth a visit.
Without doubt once the Hilton brand is rolling the hotel will be an asset to the Cape Town Hotel scene, I sincerely hope they keep their greatest asset which is the staff, we will definitely stay on our next visit to Cape Town!

Room Tip: The rooms on the upper floors have the best view of Table Mountain

Staff were brilliant at helping and making us feel welcome. Gorgeous room and a view over the Bo Kapp area. Breakfast was not cheap but it was so fresh.
Facilities were great. We loved the bus down to the V and A, but the Limo back was better.

Room Tip: Hilton Card

This is a great hotel, that I would be happy to recommend to anyone, business or pleasure. It is positioned away from the waterfront area. Where most visitors will want to go in the evening, but they make up for that with a free shuttle to and from the harbour side (in a new mercedes) so don't take that as a criticism.
My room was fantastic, being anew hotel it should be, but it had everything and was spotless. But a special mention has to go to the staff I came across as they were fantastic and made the whole stay so easy, whether that was arranging taxis, going out to local shop for me at night or suggesting perfect restaurants.
The gym is great and although didn't use it the pool looked great also. Lastly if you want to stay in the hotel at night the on site Indian restaurants served great food the night I ate there.

Between the Waterfront (10 minute walk) and Table Mountain (5 minute drive) is the new Cape Town Hilton. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The pool area is nicely decorated and invites you to relax after having explored Cape Town and its beautiful surroundings. We loved the Indian Restaurant. The breakfast was a typical town hotel breakfast. The service in the Hilton was lovely.

This appears to be a new hotel and did not appear to be particularly busy. There appeared to be extensive business and conference facilities. I used the business lounge but is was a little soul less and they appeared not be expecting anyone as the bar was not stocked and there was no food available. The main bar and the terrace were more comfortable but empty when I was there. The swimming pool area looked good and there were moroccan style seating areas and smoking pipes to go with the general north African feel. I tried the indian restaurant which had an unfamiliar menu for an Englishman. Unusually, no alcohol was available.
Reception staff were excellent and fixed a booking error by upgrading us to executive rooms. The breakfast was of a good standard although service was a bit wayward in the lobby restaurant. The rooms were of an excelant standard and very comfortable.

Thank you for taking the time to comment about our hotel.

Unfortunately July frequents our low season. Our Indian restaurant serves Northern Indian food which is not as rich and spicy as other Indian cuisines.

We are glad you enjoyed our facilities and apologise for the shortcomings of our service team members.

Well although this was a redemption booking i was pleasantly surprised when my partner and I arrived at the hotel we were welcomed by the hotel General Manager, a first for me. i thought a good start. We were staying two nights and the second day was for Shark Cage diving. To do this we had to get up at 0530 the day after we arrived. We were put in a nice room, with upgrade onto the Executive Floor but later we found out how inconsiderate the Indians or Pakistanis with money can be. Something again that had been seen on our delayed flight back from Sabi Sands airstrip, another story. They had a family gathering, ordering room service which of course we could hear through the thin connecting door. We complained twice and they took no notice, so thankfully at 2300 we were moved to a corner room. Heaven. Just shows you how much such people value their own importance and how little consideration, and awareness they have for others. Well apart from that the rooms are OK but the whole hotel has a strange feeling of Arabic style. Eventually we found out. The hotel was developed by a Dubai based investor, and hence the layout and decor. There is a Prayer room on the P floor. The Executive Lounge is very strange and connected through to the pool area. However it appears that due to the Dubai owners imposing a no alcohol and only halal menu they had to sell to Hilton. I hope the Hilton group make the required changes in decor and although expensive they need to move the Exec lounge to the top floor.

Thank you for taking the time to forward your comments.

It is a pleasure for me to welcome HHonors members personally.

We apologise for the rude behaviour of the guests next door and delayed resolution, by our duty manager.

We are upgrading the facilities to fully comply with Hilton brand standards.

Should we have the pleasure to welcome you again to the Hilton Cape Town – you will witness the changes.

Yours sincerely,
