Saturdays from 9am-2pm. THE best local weekend market I've ever been to. If you're in Cape Town on a Saturday, then The Old Biscuit Mill is a MUST! On Saturdays from 9am-2pm, the old mill fills with local restauranteurs and businesses. Think of a smorgasbord of delicious flavors from all over the world. Everything from Indian, to Greek to Chinese to Cape Malay...wines, beers, fresh juices, pastries, the list goes on. You could easily spend the whole time here eating, all the food is locally sourced and made and worth the 10 minute cab ride from the city center. The food vendors take cash only but there's an ATM onsite too. Highly recommend trying the potato latke with slow roasted lamb, the homemade fudge guy and the Indian curries booth. In addition to the amazing food, a lot of local designers come in on Saturdays as well in order to sell their designs. They have jewelry, bags, wallets, belts, luggage, clothes, shoes, etc. Very boutiquey type stuff that they sell for a lot cheaper at the market versus in the big stores on Long Street. You save money by buying the item at the Biscuit Mill versus buying the same item in the stores on Long Street. Great for going alone or with a big group. The Biscuit Mill is also open throughout the week but the food vendors and the boutique designer stalls are only there on Saturdays. MUST DO...especially for great people watching :)
