Amber tree lodge Will really give you that home while away -feeling which is very difficult to find... Stay for a couple of nights and chill with others in the sofas. We really felt like a big family and as long as there's good company you will have a good time. If there's no good company, you can always chill by yourself with an awesome view of the table mountain! 5/5!

We loved this place. Yes, it's a backpackers lodge - but much more of a friendly guest house. We had a room on the courtyard and it was totally quiet except for partying in nearby bars on Saturday night - just take earplugs and an eye mask.

Friendly, helpful, fun, professional. One of us was reluctant about staying in a 'hostel' but was completely converted. Can't wait to go back!

My two friends and I stayed at the Amber Tree Lodge for the duration of our trip to Cape Town and they made our stay feel seamless and very pleasant. The staff were all really friendly and quite eager to help with any questions we had, and you could tell they were very knowledgeable about all the nooks and crannies in Cape Town. The breakfast (cereal, toast, and coffee) was quite adequate and the living space was kept incredibly clean - I especially loved the shower stalls as each one was in a private enclosure.
I strongly recommend picking Amber Tree Lodge as a place to stay, especially if you're like my group and won't really be at the hotel/hostel except for a good night's sleep. It's totally worth the price and more, and I wish I could have stayed longer!

Room Tip: One friend stayed in the dorm room and another friend and I had the private twin room and we all had...

What a fantastic place! Amazingly comfortable accommodation with fantastic staff and facilities. Really is a place you can just chill and meet other travellers. So homely and clean and just a great environment to stay in. All you can want for a trip to Cape Town is either at the lodge itself or within very close proximity. Restaurants, bars, bus stops, tourist offices, shops. I cannot say enough about this place! Definitely exceeds the "backpacker" label by far. I will go back for sure!

Amber Tree Lodge was the best accomodation I found during my trip in South Africa. I slept two nights in the dorm, the place is ultra clean, very modern and the house makes you feel like at home. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and the place is located just next to the city bowl and you are also not far from the Table mountain. There is a MyCiti bus stop just next to the hotel and you are also 2 minutes from Long street, which is full of good bars and restaurants. If you travel to Cape Town don't hesitate to go there!

Amber Tree Lodge is in a great location with customer service and amenities to rival any upscale hotel. The street was quiet but just a few blocks from restaurants and bars of every type, and only a R40 taxi ride from the bottom of Table Mountain and the V&A Waterfront. With a MyCity bus stop just steps away, it was easy to visit any attraction in the Cape Town area. With two electronic security gates, as well as 24-hour security, their was no issue of safety. The dorm rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen are immaculately clean and the smallest details were thought of. Plenty of plugs in the rooms, reading lamps for each bed, lockable store space for your belongings, baskets and hooks in the showers, and a fully stocked and organized kitchen that can be used to cook meals or store leftovers. The common space is comfortable and well designed for lounging or working. It was incredibly nice to have access to wi-fi and DStv at all times. Wayne and Stephen were happy and helpful at all times - and their recommendations for tours, restaurants, and transport were always spot on. I can't imagine staying anywhere else! I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone staying in Cape Town for any length of time!
