“A+ for effort! but...”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

We enjoyed our stay at Cascades, but there were some issues. The room was great and as advertised, but be advised, it is very tight on space, with next to no storage, so we basically lived out of our suitcases. Our room (4?), had a beautiful wrap-around terrace, that we really did not take advantage of; a shame as it was wonderful. The included breakfasts could not have been better, and the restaurant in General is very good. It appeared to be a bit of a local hang out for Sea point residents...always a good sign. We found a diner serving an eclectic mix of Indian food and, believe it or not, dessert specialties, called the Atlantic Express. It's a short walk from the hotel and it's in an original AE dining car.

We truly enjoyd our stay at cascade. The owner Luc and his crew went out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable. We were on a roundtrip and ended our stay at the cascades. We stayed at the corner room 7 with nice view to the sea, recommend it

We, my son (18yrs old) and I spent a weekend in CapeTown at this hotel. We arrived late at night and so were picked up at the airport.(We later found out that a taxi would have been much cheaper). We found the hotel to be very nice, big room, very comfortable bed, great shower and sitting area. The emnnities in the room were very nice as was the computer at our disposal and the free wi-fi internet. (could only be accessed in the vicinity of the computer). The location was perfect for us, a bus station only 30 meters away and a sightseeing bus stop as well. The ocean too is right next to the bus stop and along it is a beautiful promenade that leads all the way to the A&V waterfront and the 2 oceans aquarium (about 40 min. walk).
There is a synagogue only two blocks away and a great supermarket with a kosher selection of foods.

Room Tip: we were on the bottom floor so if people are late sleepers they might be bothered with the noise fro...

My husband and I stayed at Cascades on he Promenade with our 1 year old. We were extremely pleased with the practically furnished room, with all the mod cons one could wish for! Over and above the general facilities one would expect from a 4star, the rooms came equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine, Apple Mac and remote control shutters to keep out the morning light.

The breakfast...ooh, the breakfast! Sooo many options, such a small tummy! I couldn't possibly do the menu justice in the 3 days we spent at the hotel. The restaurant is modern and chic and guests at the hotel can choose anything from the menu which patrons off the street have to fork out a pretty penny for :) we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts which fueled us beautifully for a good portion of the day.

The hotel is located excellently, as the promenade overlooking the sea is only a few short steps away. We took the opportunity of taking a leisurely stroll along the promenade at dusk and was pleasantly surprised at how many locals do the same, making our walk a very safe one.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that wants comfort, style and location!

Like most other reviews, mine has nothing but compliments to offer to the owners/operators of this small, but well-equipped, property in the Sea Point neighborhood of Cape Town. The location is convenient, the rooms well designed and well maintained. The staff and owners are attentive and succeed in making this a property one would return to, again and again.

We travel very often to Cape Town and always try to find out new hotels / guesthouses that we enjoy.
This is our first time at Cascades on the Promenade and I'm sure it won't be the last! We've stayed here for 5 nights.
Very helpful and friendly staff, exceptional breakfast!!!
The rooms are very well equipped and it really feels cozy.
I can only fully recommend this unique hotel and on my next stay I'm pretty sure I'll book here again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A fine boutique hotel, situated along the Atlantic Seaboard, in Sea Point, Cape Town. The concept of this city hotel is to offer "young of heart" travelers an ideal base from where to explore Cape Town and surroundings at affordable rates, without compromising any quality expectations. The ideal guest for Cascades on the Promenade is the well informed traveler, who is interested and anxious to discover Cape Town for what it is... a bustling, vibrant and incredibly beautiful city, brimming with activities and diversity. Our traveler doesn't want to sacrifice valuable holiday-time due to a remote or difficult location of the hotel, away from the main attractions, or battling with internet connection issues, insufficient hot water in the shower or more of those complicated situations that tend to spoil a vacation. Our guests want to get up and about after a good nights' rest in a perfectly equipped and soft furnished room. Breakfast awaits our traveler in the cozy Hotel Bistro or outside on the terrace, where he or she already mingles with the local regulars. The hotel is superbly positioned for immediate action, whether that is a vigorous jog along Cape Town's magnificent Seaboard... or a leisurely stroll... it's all right here on our doorstep... From the hotel it is a five minute walk to the Olympic size, open air, sea-side swimming pool or an even shorter stroll to the Beach Road to catch a ride on the Hop-on, Hop-off Topless Sightseeing Bus, which passes every twenty minutes. The bus takes you on a roundtrip through Cape Town. From the hotel it goes along the Promenade to the V&A Waterfront, through the inner city and further up to the Table Mountain Cable Car station. From there it goes down to the Clifton and Camps Bay beaches and back to the Promenade in front of the hotel. The Hotel The hotel is housed in a Cape-Victorian style, 120-year-old protected heritage building. An extensive renovation in 2010 has transformed the original structure into a very modern, super trendy place with a distinct international flair. Our guest will immediately recognize the spot as a trendsetter, definitely on par with leading small design hotels sprinkled around the larger cities of Europe, Asia or the United States. The latest on offer in hotel technology has been incorporated in the design and furnishings. The seven Deluxe rooms are very "complete". Five of them have outside balconies with comfortable seating arrangements. The two rooms without outside balcony are extra large and can accommodate an extra bed. All rooms have King size (180 cm) beds with soft, leather head boards and build-in reading lights. Remote controlled air conditioning (heating/cooling). Large walk-in rain showers, thermostatic taps, wall-mounted hairdryers and heated towel rails in the bathrooms. A state of the art 40" (1m) LED TV screen, a 23" Apple Mac computer with free internet, Wi-Fi access point, Bose iPod docking station, CD Player, Telephone, International plugs, Electronic Safe, Mini Bar and a Nespresso machine are standard in every room. Nighttime security is provided directly to the guest through automated roller shutters in the rooms and in general through a 24-hour attendance at reception and closed circuit camera's in the public area's. The Bistro Bright yellow Vitra tub chairs on the terrace and black leather upholstering inside the bistro, copper leaf and rich walnut wall paneling, Tom Dixon design lighting and a Samsung video wall for entertainment... the combination of these elements create the ideal setting where we offer our guests a fine, contemporary cuisine throughout the day. On the day-menu are light snacks and refreshing salads, from a choice of pasta's to fresh fish or a prime cut of succulent beef fillet. The "Patisserie" chef makes sure that coffee never goes without the necessary indulgence on the side. For dinner we change the setting for a fine-dining experience with a French style Bistro menu. And of course, there is the bar for a stiff drink, a cocktail or a good selection of South African wines. ... more   less
