Our stay at Dolphin Inn was wonderful. Their location is wonderful. Wonderful walks along the beach front and only a 10 min walk to the V&A Waterfront. There are two lovely restaurants only 50 m the Guest house which serve lovely food. The Dolphin Inn is a great place to stay the people are friendly and very helpfull. The breakfasts are great.

We were two couples travelling together and loved our stay at Dolphin Inn. It is a beautiful location and we will definitely be back. Paul and Tania were great hosts and always willing to help with advice and information. A very friendly, relaxed place to stay and very good value for money considering the location. An added bonus was watching the whales every morning on our walk before a wonderful breakfast. We were fortunate as it was out of season for the whales.

I cannot say enough positive things about our accommodations, the Dolphin Inn's proprietors, and our overall experience. My only regret is that my stay was too short. If you want charm, comfort, and accessibility run by genuinely good and caring people, you can't miss with the Dolphin Inn Guesthouse.

Room Tip: Each room has a slightly different layout and design so there should easily be something for all tra...

Tanya and Paul are lovely hosts. An easy, relaxed atmosphere The Dolphin Inn's easy, relaxed atmosphere was most inviting. The location was perfect for us as first time visitors to Cape Town. We could walk across the street to the promenade and walk following the coast. Behind the inn was the attractive Green Park, another walking delight. Excellent restaurants were within easy walking distance, a block or two, and the waterfront area was about a ten minute walk. Each morning, Tanya cooked a yummy breakfast and there was always someone there to help if needed. The rooms were neat and clean and we felt completely safe always. Even though we were first time visitors to South Africa with Cape Town as our first stop, at the Dolphin, we met return guests who were businessmen and holiday makers who had returned year after year. Thank you for a great introduction to Cape Town and South Africa. And thank you to John Batchelor of Faircape Travel who arranged our trip. A great beginning!

We enjoyed our four night stay at the Dolphin in February 2013. Paul & Tania were very helpful with advice and booking restaurants and taxis for us. Breakfasts were great.
The only negatives were no air conditioning and some taxi drivers thought Mouille Point was too close to the V&A and charged a R50 minimum fare. We didn't mind that but some were grumpy too!

if you get there late at night and something doesn't work, then hard luck. same during the day, if you want password to use internet, in need of taxi or info on how to get around, hard luck. way overpriced for what you get. you can pay the same at a modest hotel and have someone at reception 24 hours. also, if your flight is late at night most places will let you have late checkout, but not here. there isn't even a toilet if you have to hang around all day in the breakfast room. there's a view of the sea, but if there is fog then the fog horn blasts away all night about 100 feet away, and mouille point has fog all year.

Dear Mr/Mrs? M Hanke

I'm sorry you did not have an enjoyable stay with us and I regret that you never mentioned anything to us so that we could try to rectify any possible problems.
I am not sure what it was that "didn't work" when you arrived late at night. We are a relatively small Guesthouse that does not warrant having a 24/7 reception desk. We have done this in the past and found that the person mostly sat around all night waiting for the sun to come up, with very little to do. The expense, which ultimately is included in the running costs, did not warrant this.
We live on the premises and are available should anyone need.

Each room has an information booklet at the bedside table, which lists amongst others, Emergency numbers, Taxi numbers and our Free WIFI password code.
Provided the room is available, we do indeed allow a late checkout, and have on many occasions, when available, had guests spend the entire day in the room for an evening check-out at no extra cost. However, please understand that if the room has been previously booked and other guests are checking in, it is impossible for us to allow guests to stay in the rooms longer. Although, once again in these circumstances, most guests are happy to either spend the day going about their business or leisure and collecting their bags from our safekeeping before leaving.

Our "breakfast room" has a comfortable lounge area as well where guests with a late flight can relax, use the wi-fi and tea / coffee facilities at no extra charge, despite having checked out already. It's unfortunate that you had to "hang around" all day waiting for your flight as there are a number of walks, attractions, coffee shops and restaurants within strolling distance that you could have explored.

Yes we do have fog in Mouille Point, but it certainly is nowhere near "all year". Being a coastal area, depending on a variety of factors such as wind, sea and land temperature, fog can and does occur, but it is not that frequent. The fog horn is also situated on the promenade opposite the Lighthouse, which is approximately 1km away, not 100ft. The Mouille Point Lighthouse and it's Fog Horn serve a vital role in ensuring safe passage for vessels in difficult conditions at sea and can be heard many kilometers away. Unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing we can do about that.

Regards

Tania and Paul
