As we've been to Maremoto to celebrate my birthday, the team of Maremoto, especially Marc, were so nice and friendly and spontaneously offered a little surprise. The food, ambience and staff were amazing, thanks for the great evening! We'll come back.

More upscale than some other "homely" restaurants on Long Street, the only quibble we had with this one was the choice of food on offer. The food itself was really good, and it made a real change from other offerings in the area. But I didn't feel the choice was as good as others in the area. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend if you're looking for something a bit posher than the Royale.

Although the entrance is a bit off putting and nondescript it is a great place, great food, subtle decor, concise menu and really friendly staff particularly Mark and Forget . It is just a block from the Pepperclub hotel so within safe walking distance.
It was so good we ate there the next night. We had (not all at once although tempted) the fresh asparagus, slow cooked belly of pork (forget the calories), tossed tiger prawns and the parmesan chicken breast which were all superb. The Cape Malay lamb curry was lovely and aromatic. Fresh fruits were on the dessert menu along with tipsy tart comfort food.

Open plan kitchen, the wine list (nealy all local) is on a board and the lady chef on the first night was a girl who knew and liked food. It is also a bar although empty on our first visit and not in your face the next night.

I usually am doubtful about restaurants that have people standing outside asking you to come in and give them a try. Something about the young mans manner and genuine enthusiasm about the place made me try it. What a pleasant surprise! Lovely lovely decor not too noisy , view of the kitchen which I always like clean friendly and efficient service and fabulous food! Only thing I didn't like was the shrimp still had the shell on and wasn't deveined but the flavor s were wonderful.
Great server by the name of Forget yes it means forget but he doesn't forget a thing made dining enjoyable. I has the coconut curry and fish stew which had a great blend of flavors. Lovely merlot ginger rice pudding and a decaf cappuccino 25 rand plus tip. Very reasonable will return again. Long street is filled with pubs and backpacking stores and this place is very unassuming from the outside. You may even miss it.
