Ok, I'll start this review with the simple question...WHY aren't more people going there???? The hotel is boutique styled coupled with wonderful staff to welcome and look after you. The Dash Restaruant is done out in a lovely stye, relaxed yet elegant, and although not completely separate to the bar, it does have a very large fire acting as a barrier. We were greeted by Dale the maître de, who catered to our every whim, engaged in detailed conversations about the food and wine and was a pleasure to deal with throughout. His attention to detail was very impressive. So onto the food, Jamie the Cheif has skills!!! His focus is definitely on flavours, the understanding required to blend and support numerous flavours in unison is something else. The presentation was faultless!!!! The portion sizes were a concern having eaten in most places in Cape Town over the years where the volume is a little too much. We needn't had worried as all the courses were perfectly sized as if he knew how much we needed. We had a mix of fish, savoury and meat across our starters and mains. We didn't opt for the mid course sorbets, yet in hindsight we should've as the table next to us did, they all enjoyed them fully! Even the wife said she's never heard me lost for words, yet the mushroom parfait I had for starter did exactly that, wow, it will rate as one of my best starters ever, and we're lucky to eat around the world. Jamie's capabilities are one of Cape towns best kept secrets!!!! The team overall we're wonderful and looked after us on our last night in town perfectly.
So my concern is this, why was it ai empty??? It's a cracking hotel and venue with views across the bay and waterfront area. Is it PR or lack of advertising, is it because it's competing with those people who go for what they know at the waterfront, is it because it's only a couple of years old and places such as Soceiti Bistro, Five Files and Nelson's Eye are brilliant in their own right and hence not known enough yet?
Well I'm not one to write reviews yet I felt compelled to share what a fantastic restaurnt Dash is, the food is something else, the service top notch and amazingly great value at £25-30!!!!!
Please support these guys and experience a wonderful evening yourselves!!!
