Description: Dash Restaurant & Bar is the jewel in the crown of the Queen Victoria Hotel, which is situated in the Portswood Precinct near the Waterfront, Cape Town. An intimate restaurant, with just 36 seats, serves the most delicious food, as testified by its constant rave reviews. It prides itself on only using the best and freshest ingredients, to chime with the Cape’s seasons. The dishes at Dash change every few weeks, when new ingredients become available. Early diners are welcomed to relax in the swanky bar area for a cocktail and take in impressive views of Table Mountain and the city. Dash has an impressive and exceptionally well chosen wine list and the walls boast some remarkable artwork, kindly loaned by the restaurant’s prestigious gallery neighbour, Everard Read, and this is also changed every few months with new work by renowned local artists, such as Beezy Bailey and John Meyer.

this restaurant has a somewhat short but sweet menu. The food is top drawer and the presentation excellent. Well worth a visit.

The reviews here were a bit bumpy around March and April. It turns out the chef left to work in London and another chef and a changed menu clearly had an impact on some diners. We were staying in the hotel and decided to give it a try. Well trained staff, smiling and polite, who clearly knew every ingredient in all of the new dishes. We were happy with every bite, and could easily have ordered any of the items on offer. Overlooking Table Mountain, it’s location near the Waterfront makes it ideal and with hotel private parking, it offers the whole package for a romantic, relaxed evening. We couldn't have been happier.

Our dinner at Dash was spectacular! I can't recommend eating here more. We both had the best meal of our trip. The restaurant is elegant and sleek but also inviting with a warm fireplace. The service was excellent and the food, what can I say. Amazing. We had a chef treat of corn soup that was the best soup I've ever tasted. Appetizers: Double baked gorgonzola soufflé, biltong shavings and hazelnuts and for my husband Tempura prawns, pickled soft vegetables and sesame emulsion. The prawns were to die for. Then, pan fried loin of venison that melted in your mouth, mashed potatoes. Husband had grilled fillet of beef, spinach purée, grilled vegetables. Both were out of his world. highly recommend eating here at least once when in Cape Town!

Dash is in the Queen Victoria Hotel. We went there for dinner recently and had a most enjoyable evening.

I can recommend it to anyone who likes fine dining. The food is excellent, beautifully presented and the service is very good and unobtrusive. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and was very au fait with all the dishes.

Of all the dishes, we agreed that the asparagus starter, grilled fillet of beef for mains and the hot chocolate fondant were the best choices. The sorbets come in 3 varieties and are very nice to share.

We had friends from overseas with us and they raved about the food. All in all it was a stunning evening marred just a bit by some of the dishes not being warm enough.

We were very surprised that the restaurant was rather empty as one would expect a restaurant of this calibre to be very busy. The restaurant prices were reasonable for quality dining but for South Africans we felt that the wine prices were too steep.

Well worth visiting.

Situated in the Queen Victoria Hotel, this little gem is a must do. We were staying in the hotel and after reading the reviews decided to have dinner. We were not dissappointed. The service was elegant yet unobtrusive. The food was some of the best I have easten. The beef is amazing and make sure you try the fondant for dessert!!! All in all a fantastic meal.
