“A decent & comfortable stay in Sept 2013.....”
Reviewed 26 September 2013

Stayed there from 13th- 20th Sept 2013. Selected this property on the basis of reviews from tripadvisor.

PLUS POINTS:

- It is a serviced apartment and not a hotel, located in a quiet & safe area. Close to city center, Clifton beach & waterfront.

- Hassle free check-in & checkout. Had booked through booking.com

-Clean with friendly staff.

- Basic but big room (stayed in #104)..... Do not know about other rooms.

- Convenient location: Located on the parallel road to beach road. Take any connecting lane if you wish to go to seaside. There is no beach but a well maintained promenade.

- Very close to big and reasonable departmental stores (Superspar (less than 100 m), Shopright (400 m approx.).

- Many restraunts & takeaways around.
-
-AC buses stop in front of the building for a trip to city & on promenade (not far at all), for waterfront.... costs about R8 per trip per person..... Taxis are expensive.

-Parking was sufficient.

- Nice to have a balcony.

- No loud music was heard at night as mentioned in some of the reviews. May be, they have it during peak season.

MINUS POINTS:

Can not think of many as 'you get for what you pay'.

- Weak Wi-Fi connection in the room.

-limited utensils (just enough to heat & eat).. (Who goes to Cape Town to cook anyways !). Cleaned only once in a day except Sundays....... Happy washing for repeated use :)

-May not be suitable for party lovers as all the action is in the city-bowl.

-They charge 50% of the amount as soon as you book.

Had a comfortable stay. Felt safe too.

The hotel worked for one night. In a decent spot in Sea Point - very nice little restaurant Koo's downstairs. Hotel was clean with friendly staff. I would stay here again. Its not the Ritz, but for the value - it was great!

Excellent spot with cozy , clean and breezy rooms . Location in Seapoint is amazing , everything is there from a range of restaurants right through to Woolies , Superspar and clicks !

Just a pity there was no Wifi for my 5 day stay , however the restaurants downstairs had !

See you guys again !

This place is perfectly situated between the city and the beaches. Clean, quiet and most helpful and friendly staff. Plumbing was A LITTLE noisy but really, for the price, could be overlooked! Parking was sufficient. Nice to have a balcony too :)

Just did a 3 night stay here, hadn't booked anything prior to arrival in Cape town, firstly location is fine was very handy for most things, we had a car so there was secure parking. We arrived late afternoon on a weekend so only one reception open, Bob was very friendly and helpful and showed us a couple of different rooms we settled for one at the rear away from the road, as road noise would be a problem from front facing rooms. The room was clean, bed was fine a bit hard if anything. Had a small balcony with sea glimpse but fine, Fridge was clean and usable there was microwave and kettle etc but would not call them self catering as nothing to cook on. Look the staff we met were friendly and welcoming for the price R550 a night was good value

This is a top end BUDGET! hotel. Booked for a month before reading all the reviews! .......... The overall location is good - shops/restaurants/swimming pavilion/sea front all close. Can walk to Clifton beaches 20 mins & Camps Bay 40 mins. Walk to waterfront about an hour or taxi 10 mins.
Staff are are friendly, especially after a few tips. Some rooms are just not as good as overs, so ask to see other rooms if need be. I was moved to the front of the building on the busy main road, which was fine apart from the noise levels - Ear plugs are a must!!!
I noticed better surrounding hotels/apartments however they are more expensive, so for the price it's OK.

Room Tip: Avoid room 308 (Side), Room 302 (Front) is much better .... just bring the ear plugs!

When I arrived at Amalfi, I was pleasantly greeted by staff and got an overall good impression of the place, after that it went all downhill once I was booked in, I wish I could have ask for my money back or paid at the end of my stay, because I would have left after one day, on my retun the first night there was no parking bay available, so I had to park my car outside, which I was charged every morning by street collectors, out of ten nights I got parking twice in a bay. My room was dirty and full of woman's hair. Long black hair. I complained at reception and my room was cleaned again, but on my return there was still hair in my bed and on the floor! As I was on holiday I would have like to sleep in, but no chance , as they check the electricity every morning and ask if you want your room clean, they do not have. DND cards for guest. On closer inspection of the room, the fridge was old and unclean, room was not executively furnished. This place should be called "Amalfi 2* apartments" NOT Amalfi executive apartments" there's nothing executive about this place. The staff was friendly but not professional or experienced to deal with international guest, the wallway was very noisy in the mornings hen the staff clean rooms, shouting fom one floor to the other, would never ever stay here again, even if they charge me half price, No No No, HIGHLY NOT RECOMENDED" The only positive to this place are the location

Room Tip: No to room 302
