“Fawlty Towers is alive and kicking in SA”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

Have been going to this restaurant for at least 6 years regularly!

Had lunch with four people - beautiful day and the views always spectacular.

The big gripe I have with this restaurant is the constant change of staff - they do not seem to be able to keep staff -as there have been some wonderful serving staff over the years but they never seem to stay!

We ordered starters - Spring rolls and Sushi. Ordered at 12,30 and we were then told at 13.05 that the fat fryer wasn't working and the starters would be there soon. They arrived at 13.15 - the restaurant had approx. 12 other covers - 4/5 waiting staff a barman and a "manageress".

If the fat fryer wasn't working - surely a restaurant of this calibre would just put a wok on the gas and fill it with oil and cook the premade spring rolls!

We then ordered our mains as soon as the starters arrived as we didn't want to wait as long again!

After the starter plates were removed a different waiter (aka African Manuel) came to the table and told us and I quote:

"You have ordered the calamari, I would advise you not to as we have had so many complaints about it - its not very nice".

We therefore changed the main course. I then asked to see the manageress to ask her what was really going on (aka a South Africa Basil Fawlty) - who informed us that they cannot take the dish off the menu as they are a franchise and can only get their menus re-printed every 6 months. So I suggested that maybe just tell clients that this dish is not available rather than having the embarrassing conversation that its actually "no good"! - or perhaps MAYBE even improve this dish so it does work! - All fell on deaf ears and was completely dismissive.

Thank goodness we all had a sense of humour - I have never heard such utter garbage from a manageress -isn't her role to mediate between staff and clients - I suppose we should all be aware that there is no such thing as a printer attached to a computer than can re-print pages in 2014!

Totally ridiculas!

“Beautiful location”

What a great setting and views. Extensive menu, great sushi and good service.Very close to hotel with conference guests so we were a bit squashed in. But I would go there even if only for a sundowner outside.

“Wang Thai 5 star food experience”
Reviewed 26 April 2014 via mobile

Wang Thai food is amazing. The Thai flavors infused in your meal. I had a delicious sea food pot which was fresh, tasty and breath taking. My rock shandy was on point. Customer service was great from beginning to end. Blissful atmosphere. It's an amazing restaurant, suitable for dates, family outings, social dinners or just a fun night out. Give it a try.
