“Perefect stay in beautiful Cape Town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 November 2012

We spend recently 4 nights in the Cape Grace and were delighted with our choice of hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room (with partial Table Mountain view) nice and clean, the location of the hotel perfectly close to all shops and restaurants at the Waterfront.
I think it would be difficult to find a better place to stay in Cape Town.
If we need to say something negative it is that the breakfast choice was limited for this quality of hotel and for checkout time there was not even a minimal flexibility.
When returning to Cape Town, which as a city and its surroundings, we liked very much, we will certainly return to the Cape Grace.

Cape GRace was the first hotel after arriving from the USA. They were at the airport at 10pm to pick us up and expedite us to our accomodations. We had two adjoiining rooms, as requested, and our 2 year old son had plenty of new bath toys and robe just his size. It seemed like a Montessorri had been there to make things accessible for the children too. This hotel is luxury and right in the middle of the V&A waterfront so you can cruise around and see lots of things. Concierge makes great recommendations and will print you maps for where you need to go - as we rented a car to drive at our leisure to Cape of Good Hope and Hermanus.

Room Tip: We had a room facing toward the water that wraps around to the back of the hotel. From our balconies...

This is my third visit to Cape Grace. It never disappoints. Located on the V & A Waterfront, riooms have awesome views of the waterfront and Table Mountain. And even though it includes amenities like the private yacht and complimentary chauffeured-driven cars, there is no pretentiousness here. I always feel like they I am a guest in a 121-room mansion with extremely gracious hosts, rather than one in a hotel. The staff goes out of their way to help and addresses me by name. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. The spa is one of my favorites. I had a massage there that was so relaxing, I almost fell asleep. My husband likes it so much, he wants to live there!

Room Tip: Request a room facing the waterfront. And for breakfast, ask for the croissant French toast even tho...

Excellent traditional 5 star hotel in an excellent position on the V and A waterfront. The decor is elegant but with a bit of fun - quirky chandeliers, interesting graphics - that make it a fun place to explore. Rooms are luxurious and well equipped, staff are generally helpful and friendly (though service can be a little patchy at times, e.g. at breakfast).

We enjoyed our stay at Cape Grace. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are generous in size, and the view of the Waterfront is very calming. When we arrived at the hotel, we appreciated the welcome we received and the tour of the property. We enjoyed the sitting room and the warm fireplace. The hotel is well located, and provides complimentary car service nearby, which was very helpful. We found that the hotel attracts large tour groups, and does not allow for an intimate feel or luxurious environment. The breakfast especially needs work, as it is understaffed, and we waited nearly 40 minutes for eggs on more than one occasion. If traveling on business, or with a large family or group, this place is perfect. For romance, I would look elsewhere.

We had just spent 6 nights in Cape Grace. The hotel in one of that places that you love, right in the middle of V&A, arguably the best city - place in Africa.
People are very nice, well-intended.
When we arrived they gave us an upgrade for a better room, on the fourth floor.
The room is great, with a large balcony open to Table Mountain and overlooking the yacht harbour and huge, with a bed that's embracing us.
We also had a very pleasant orientation tour, during the days we received each evening messages and chocolate. Beauty and friendship are the main words that describe Cape Grace.
But ...
breakfast is one of the louzyest ever seen in 5 star hotels.
There is a list of cold things that you can get from the buffet, but when you look the selection is very reduced. Still, if you ask you will find that there are things available, even if you don't see them.
Worse, it just seem that they are very well intentioned and really are nice people, but very poor organised. We asked for 2 juices, they proposed carrots and it took 30 minutes to bring one and the excuse the carrots are finished :-)
First mornings they tried to give us a bad table, even they were plenty free.
Worst, once I looked for a waiter for 15 minutes, finally grab one but the order for hot dishes never arrived in the following 20 minutes and we had to leave without having breakfast ...
It is so pitty such a wonderfull, outstanding, luxurious place is not giving the proper training and organize it's employees. Such things shouldn't happen in a real 5* ...

Room Tip: Ask for a Table Mountain view. Is astonishing !

You get what you pay for and here it is special, the rooms are sumptuous, the view over table mountain is very impressive. Service impeccable and location bang on. Will return when back in cape town, if you like good hotels this will not disappoint.
