“Perfect Cape Town Escape w Table Mountain views & Waterfront”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2013

Cape Grace is a very attractive, modern hotel with luxorious traditional feel starting from the facade and contiuning into the entrance, public rooms, and guest quarters. Our room was spacious, carefully designed, and well appointed with patio overlooking small boat harbour. Service was excellent without being overbearing; special requests drew a prompt response. It is well located -- a very short stroll to many restaurants and other hotels in the waterfront area. Recognizing that it is difficult to guarantee safety in Cape Town or many other large urban cities, we felt safe walking even in the late evening in the V&A waterfront immediately adjacent to the hotel. Restaurant was very attractive with very good food and service; room service was prompt. We had one small room problem during our stay which was immediately addressed with apologies from management. Hard to imagine a better choice for a quiet weekend, combining Table Mountain views with waterfront experience in luxury surroundings.

Room Tip: Loved our corner room with patio overlooking boat harbour

We've just returned from an 11 night stay which was our 4th time at the Cape Grace and had a lovely time again. We noticed however that the breakfast & poolside service was not as good as it used to be. Once this was mentioned to a more senior member of staff things dramatically improved and it's clear that the hotel cares that all of its guests feel well looked after. All of the staff used our names without exception making our stay a personal experience. Everything is taken care of and the bedrooms are exceedingly comfortable. The spa is also great. We used concierge to make several restaurant reservations and this was all arranged very efficiently. Our main concern which might put us off from returning is that the hotel was very busy with both business and holiday guests and our poolside breakfast and time around the sun loungers at the pool was spoilt on several occasions by business guests making endless and very loud business calls which was not conducive to relaxation and trying to switch off from our own busy business lives at home. There are plenty of private spaces elsewhere in the hotel for the making of business calls so we would urge the hotel to consider making the pool area a mobile phone-free zone with appropriate signage. We have passed this comment directly to the hotel via the feedback form and in person to a member of the reception staff. All in all though we had a great time and chatted to several other guests who were there on their repeat stay so the hotel is clearly doing lots right.

Room Tip: Definitely worth paying to get a mountain/marina view room

You won't find a better place to stay! The staff are fantastic. Concierge service is exceptional, and everything about this hotel is luxury at its finest. We stayed for 8 nights, and never wanted to leave!

We stayed at the beautiful Cape Grace on our honeymoon in August 2012. We couldn't really fault it. It's in a great location on the V&A waterfront so you feel prefectly safe walking around in the evening. The complimentary car service is really useful, and easy to book through reception. The staff couldn't have done enough for us.

We started our holiday with 4 nights at Cape Grace. From the chauffeur pick up at the airport onwards it has been pure delight. We have stayed in several 5 star hotels and the service level at Cape Grace is the best we have found. The room is large, plenty of wardrobe space, separate vanity area, lovely view of the marina and table mountain. I could go on and on. I also recommend getting the picnic if you are out for the day - very good value, delicious sandwiches and wonderful homemade crisps.

We came to celebrate a special birthday in January and cannot fault this unique hotel. Rooms are luxurious. The views of Table Mountain and Signal Hill are amazing. I particularly enjoyed the displays of traditional furniture and artefacts in all the lift lobbies as well as the beautiful and unusual chandeliers in Signal Restaurant . We never intended to dine there every night but succumbed to the quality of the very varied menu and the charm and friendliness of the staff. The spa treatments were great and, on a practical note we really appreciated that there was even an ATM in the basement. Thank you Cape Grace for making my big day special.

Room Tip: Go for a Table Mountain view

I've been meaning to write this review for ages. We stayed for 6 nights in October. This place is amazing and I have never had such consistently high service from all the staff. So efficient, so polite. Suites are great, make sure you get the Table Mountain view. Spa is great. The complimentary limo service anywhere within a 20km radius of the hotel is fantastic. Just book in advance as, not surprisingly, they get booked up. Expensive but worth the money. Spoil yourself, you won't regret it!
