Although this hotel is pricey it's very special. The location is ideal, right on the waterfront where you can get the ferry to Robben island or explore shops and markets. They also provide a free car to anywhere within a certain distance. There was free port in the library at certain times and the breakfast was phenomenal. It was our honeymoon and they gave us a gift everyday and even told the restaurants we visited, who in turn gave us free champagne. Gorgeous colonial antiques throughout and dedicated staff. Magical place!

This hotel is wonderful, the staff are fantastic and the attention to detail is incredible! My partner and I were upgraded (without begging) and the room was delightful. All food and service is done with friendliness and casual charm. As two women, we have experienced prejudice elsewhere in South Africa and this was a really nice change. The hotel is so good we are planning to return soon, simply to show it to another member of the family. What else can I say? Stay here.

Room Tip: I suspect they are all wonderful.

My husband and I stayed a total of 4 nights this past November at the Cape Grace. The hotel is not very large (4 floors) and is conveniently located on the V&A waterfront. There is a nice pool on the first floor.

We had a table mountain luxury room, which was a nice size and had full length windows that opened up to face a little harbour with boats. The decor may not be to everyone's taste---a little busy with touches of French country, but it was fine. There was a metal light fixture on the mirrored wall right above the bed, which seemed unnecessary and which, if it fell, would have landed on one of our heads.

I thought the Charlotte Rhys bath products smelled a bit strong, but there were amenities one usually doesn't find in a hotel room (wet wipes, pocket pack of tissues).

There were tea and coffee making facilities which we loved, since we like to have coffee while we dress before going to breakfast. However, the coffee (the kind that look like tea bags) tasted terrible. I would have expected a nespresso machine for a hotel like this.

We did have an issue about the hotel's policy around late check-out, but this was resolved graciously by Jacques, the manager.

Our stay in Cape Town was really great due to Hoon, the head concierge, whose recommendations were spot on. He assisted us with restaurant reservations and with booking a driver on 2 day tours. He was one of the best concierges we had worked with on all of our trips.

We had a great time in Cape Town and we would definitely recommend the Cape Grace.

This is a truly classy hotel. Everything from the room furnishings, the food and drink and most importantly the staff are top notch. It is an oasis of calm amongst the bustle of the V and A.

Every staff member is at the top of their game, if you request something it is done, no need to check or ask again. The pool area is lovely and the restaurant beautiful. It is also lovely turning up to restaurants in your own BMW limo, at no charge!

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough for anyone who likes the best things in life... Enjoy.

From the doorman's greetings upon arrival to the gracious welcome into your room, The Cape Grace is astounding!
The finer touches that are showered on guests make one feel so at home and not just a visitor. The staff are excellent and couldn't do more for the guests.
The rooms are spacious with excellent beds and gorgeous bathrooms. All the amenities and additional touches are splendid.
Sadly we stayed only one night but we will be back as soon as we can.

Room Tip: Select a harbour view room.

Not only does the Cape Grace have the perfect location in the stunning V&A Waterfront, its restrained but superior "Ocean Liner" ambience makes it the ultimate Cape Town place to stay. And afternoon tea in the Library has to be the thing to do (at a bargain price compared with some other places). Forget the cake temptations (or indulge another day) just go for a simple service of Tea and English style scones. It comes with lashings of cream, home made strawberry jam and the most delicious lemon curd (also of course home made) you have ever tasted. And you don't even have to be a resident - casual visitors are most welcome and treated like everyone as honoured guests. My favourite City/Waterfront Hotel.

An absolutely world class hotel. Great rooms and service. Wonderful location right on the waterfront, and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Superb. It really does rank with the fine hotels in the world.
