A month ago during the high holiday season I had the pleasure of staying at the One and Only..expensive yes...no view yes ...accomodations amazing, service fantastic couldnt fault it. I am now staying at the Cape Grace always looking for an alternative. What a mistake. Expensive yes, awful view yes not one ounce of service, accommodations passable...
The internet doesn't work, they set a cap on their daily limit which is inexcusable. The service is so amateurish that its a joke.
Anyway lesson learned will never stay here again.

We stayed here for a pre cruise 6 night stay in January 2014.
From arriving we were greeted by extremely friendly staff who sat us in the lounge area with cool drinks to complete our check in.
Straight to our room which had fantastic views of Table mountain and the marina. The room itself was beautifully decorated and the bathroom magnificent.
The staff in the pool area were great bring drinks on a regular basis and the food was outstanding too.
The bar areas all had a good atmosphere and great service.
The hotel furnished us with their limo a couple of occasions which was a good amenity. Hoon the Concierge was really helpful and warm and informative.
This hotel oozed class and sophistication yet never felt stuffy or pretentious - the ONLY place to stay in Cape Town..........

Room Tip: Table Mountain view ....

What a fantastic place - undoubtedly one of the very best hotels I've stayed in. Located in the Victoria and Alfred waterfront area of Cape Town it's perfectly positioned for shops and restaurants, a short drive from central Cape Town and easily within reach of the cape peninsula and the wine region.

The hotel is well appointed, with lovely rooms, public areas and a great restaurant. What really sets it apart, however, is the quality and friendliness of the staff. They clearly enjoy working there and are extremely well trained, but you can't teach the attitude they all have towards their guests. From the chauffeur (you can book free pick ups in the hotel's BMW 750) to the cleaners, they are polite, helpful and chatty. It's such a pleasure to feel so welcome in the Cape Grace.

The only thing which stops this hotel being perfect is the noise emanating from the docks nearby, akin to a large generator. Whether this was temporary I don't know but it was there for the 4 day duration of our stay and detracted from the experience of sitting on our balcony overlooking the pleasure craft in the marina.

They simply think of everything in this hotel, even down to fresh milk and a coffee machine in your room. There's free local sherry and port in the library. Finally a special word for the concierge, for whom nothing was too much trouble.

All in all a fantastic hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed good from what we saw. We had a suite which was absolutely fantastic with a large living area separate from the bedroom and a balcony overlooking the marina and table mountain. See comment on noise in main review.

I fail to see how anyone can write an unfavourable review of this hotel. For me, it is the only place to stay in Capetown. The service is exceptional, the room we had was beautiful with views of the marina and Table mountain. Staff are friendly and charming. I could go on, but everything about the Cape Grace, for me, was perfect and I wish I could go back tomorrow!!
