“The Star of Cape Town”
Reviewed 2 July 2012

Right from the welcome on arrival to the goodbyes on departure, you will get the perfect desirable attention at this property. Definitely the best located hotel in Cape Town. And if you have some shopping in mind, what could be better than your own private entrance into the V&A Shopping Mall!
Despite the V&A Waterfront having a wide choice of eating places, of which we did try a few, my wife and I had two outstanding meals at the Hotel.
We also had the opportunity of looking at one of the family suites, and were amazed at the extent to which the hotel goes to pamper kids.
Will certainly be back for a longer stay next time!

The hotel is situated in the colorful waterfront district. Overlooking the harbor, the scenery is lovely. The hotel has a direct entrance to an expansive shopping mall which houses restaurants, top brands and a cinema. It's an easy walk to the aquarium and other attractions. Inside, the hotel is beautifully decorated and rose petals, bottled water and nougat are part of the turn down service. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I have ever seen with delicious fresh foods from around the globe.

Table Bay hotel is a beautiful property with excellent service. It is conveniently located adjacent to V&A mall. Upon check-in, hot towels and juices were offered. Our room had a fantastic view of Table Mountain and the harbor. Bathroom was spacious with high quality amenities. Bed was comfortable. There were toys in the room if you have a kid traveling with you and each kid was given a goodie bag with juices and candies. Complimentary bottles of water. Free wi-fi with fast connections. We had a problem with burning smells in our room and it was quickly fixed. Turndown service was excellent -towels were replenished and trash cans emptied. The afternoon tea service was excellent. Breakfast buffet offered variety of choices. The only drawback was the noise in the early morning from the boats at the harbor and our windows were not sound proof.

I stayed here for one night. Our room - a luxury twin - overlooked Table Mountain and a corner of the harbour. Unfortunately, it wasn't until 1am that I realised it also overlooked the air-conditioning units of the adjoining V&A shopping mall. Even with the windows closed, the noise was pretty awful and neither of us did more than doze for the rest of the night. The hotel is very expensive and to be honest it's nothing to write home about. The location is great though, and the staff are friendly and pleasant.

Room Tip: Avoid the twin rooms or ask when booking for a room away from the air conditioning

Capetown is one the best city in South Africa, and nature has showered all his her love on Capetown. We stayed for 4 nights in this hotel in March'12 weather was 18 - 23 degrees. Hotel was bang on the V&A water front and we had lovely view of water front and Table mountain from our window. Mornings were refreshing with good sleep quality. Hotel had a large buffet of breakfast and had very good spread & do try capuchino coffee over there its good.
Staff is very courteous and always ready to help you. Best thing is that hotel is connected internally with V&A shopping mall so best thing if u want to shop some best brands in Capetown.

Over all good place for friends and family. In terms of comfort and support staff best place to stay in cape town. If it dose'nt make a dent in your pocket one of the best 5 Star hotel

Room Tip: you have to ask for the rooms with Table mountain view.

We recently stayed at the Table Bay over Easter 2012. In general we enjoyed the hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bathrooms are lovely with probably the best shower ever. The hotel also stocks our family favourite Crabtree and Evelyn bath products - Jojoba: funny how reviews never mention that so there. The breakfast room is spread over two large rooms and is a good spread though if I am honest the service is slow and if you are there after 9am be prepared to be placed in the atrium which is miles from the breakfast table. That said, it is a good spread: but really nothing fantastic or gourmet - waffles, eggs, fruit...sushi and smelly congee porridge. Aside from the awesome location within the V&A Waterfront, I feel that this hotel is very overpriced: and for these prices I think I would have stayed at the Taj or Mount Grace if we didn't have the children with us. Our toddler (2) and 5 year old they loved it - the hotel really goes the extra mile for children with toys in the room, chocolates and other treats. A really nice touch. In summary a luxurious 'Southern Sun' Hotel with service leaving a lot to be desired, average food but superb superb location and so child friendly.

The hotel has a very good service, the food is excellent, the location is superb, rooms are nice.... but it kind of lacks personality. I mean when you there you will enjoy it. Once you have left you will not be able to recall it among many others excellent hotels. This is why my favorite in Cape Town is Mount Nelson, which is really one to remember:) Sorry
