Impressive from arrival to departure. This venue was a definite step-up from our usual choice of hotel, but special occasions need special venues. We arrived with high expectations, which are sometimes a danger because one is prone to disappointment, but there was nothing here that we could find fault with. This is despite the fact that when a hotel sticks up its flag so high with regards to its service levels you are almost looking for faults.

It was good!

It's big but manages not to feel impersonal. Rooms are a decent size with big bathrooms and comfy beds. You get views of the ocean (and Robben Island) or Table Mountain
Breakfast is the best choice I've ever seen - make sure you're hungry!
Nice bar and food/drink prices are pretty reasonable for the Waterfront. Even room service didn't break the bank.
Staff were helpful and friendly - the Concierge staff can arrange trips out etc. Through them we hired a taxi for the afternoon to visit Cape Point and the Simonstown penguins and the driver (Rashid) proved to be an excellent and very knowledgeable guide.
All in all, it lives up to its 5 star rating.

The location of the hotel is practical situated in the V&A close to all the top restaurants and shops. It is a safe environment to walk and do shopping and sight seeing. The room that was allocated to me had a great view over the harbor and Table Mountain. Every evening my bed had flower petals placed on the cushions and on the floor of the bathroom. The restaurant food and service was great with no complaints, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The breakfast had a better selection of foods I have seen for a long time that caters for a wide selection of guest, and staff quick to clear and rest set tables, with a happy and friendly attitude. Secure parking and every morning handed to me with a broad smile, and taken to be parked with same broad and friendly smile. Great hotel and service.

We regularly stay in this hotel. Recently the service is not what one would expect of a hotel of this price class. Despite requesting no feathers in the room (due to allergies) and phoning twice in advance to confirm, we had feather duvet inners for our last two stays and had to wait until midnight for them to be changed. An ugly brown blanket was provided in the first incident; fortunately they found their artificial duvets last weekend. Also wifi is patchy to non-existent. We will rather pay for a decent wifi connection than receive a non-functional one for free. Waited over an hour for in room breakfast (fresh fruit and yoghurt). Shampoos in the room has not been replaced at all, and no evening turn down provided one evening. We love this hotel, but frankly, the service is not what it used to be.

Room Tip: book a higher room

We are extremely disappointed to hear you did not experience the best of The Table Bay hotel during your recent visit. This is obviously not the standard we pride ourselves in, and have addressed these issues with departments concerned to provide training to our staff where need be.

Great Hotel, great position. Awesome view of Table mountain. Lounge in front of the fireplace with big windows onto the harbour and the mountain exceptional. Do Breakfast in the lounge unless in summer when you can sit outside and stare at the mountain. Rooms are a little tired, wifi reception may at times not be very good. Beds are great. Showers a bit small and water pressure limited. Staff brilliant! All in all best hotel in Cape Town despite shortcomings. Always a treat and not to be missed if you are visiting Cpt
