If you want a standard hotel, decent without surprises, a good breakfast and a great location for V&A Waterfront or business district, but do not want to spend much time in the hotel itself aside from sleep, shower and breakfast, then this is your hotel. If you want luxurious and fancy with ample facilities, look further.

Employee stole from our hotel room from our locked case our camera and iphone and ranked up a massive phone bill in the thousands! Employee had polygraph test and showed deception. Hotel rejected application for them to pay compensation leaving us with massive debts!

Beware! Hotel employ theives and do not uphold their responsibilities!!!!!! Would never recommend City Lodge Hotel or Cape Town to anyone and people i have spoken to since who have visited or too have known someone or them themselves have been a victim of crime!

We tried to get to Robben Island on many occasions on our trip, however they were quick to take your money and cancel trip after trip followed by many excuses and no customer service. This was echoed by Taxi drivers we met.

We would recommend Table Top Mountain for the views. And taking the tour bus around Cape Town to see the sites.

The Football stadium was basic but tours were very cheap so worth a look to say you have been.

Once in a life time trip for some.... never again for others!

The staff in this hotel are marvellous and do not seem to be able to do enough for guests. The hotel is on the edge of the Victoria and Alfred area. The rooms are comfortabe and quiet, although they have a quirky idea of an electrically operated shutter between the bathroom and bedroom so that you can presumably "be close" at all times. Their is no restaurant, but the bar serves light meals, although the Vand A has scores of places to eat. Cape Town centre is only a 10 minute walk away.

The hotel is well locsated, easy to find. It is kept up well and has a reasonable Cafe type food offering during the day, breakfast is nice (a lot of choice).
The room was a nit small, not too many TV channels, but good wireless connection (not too good choices of tarifs), room and bath were clean.. Good parking, too

While there on a business trip, i did not want to loose out on the opportunity to look around Cape Town. My criterion for a hotel were simple - not far removed from action, easy on the pocket and secure - it was on the height of ethnic violence after all.

The CIty Lodge not only met all my expectations in that regard but actually afforded to offer more than the basic comfort. The hotel is well placed - a short walk from the waterfront - the place with all the nightlife in Cape Town. The business district is not too far either.

The rooms are nice and well done - quite better than the Travelodges in UK, though i expected City Lodge to be in the same category. I did not have any problems in the ground floor room right by the street, but i am a heavy sleeper. The hotel had some nice indulgences one doenst normally expect in this caterogory - a collapsible wall between the room and bathroom for one.

The security did not look like an issue then either, though i distinclty remember an unbarred window in my room, quite accessible from the street.

The hotel does not serve a full meal apart from the breakfast, but has small tidbits to offer in its cafetaria. There are numerous places to order food from closeby and the delivery is prompt. Moreover waterfront offers many more options and wold highly reccomend a dinner there. The breakfast, is large and lavish but reasonable and is as big as one in any other part of the world with the yogurts and fruits from the local flora quite awesome and adding a distinctive local flavor to it.

Quite a neat value-for-money place and certainly reccomended if you want a comfortable place at reasonable value.
