Stayed here during September 2013. It was a very pleasant stay. The hotel staff were very helpful, not only with the hotel facilities, but also in giving advice about Cape Town and the surrounding areas. The room was comfortable and well furnished. It is conveniently located near to the aquarium, the V&A waterfront (with Mall and restaurants) and the Robben Island ferry. It is about a 40-45 minute walk from the centre of town.
Many plus points to the portswood hotel .a stunning location not more than two minutes from the v&a front. The staff were marvellous , friendly , helpful , we had room 401, more than satisfied with the facilities , food was great ,couldn't have asked for more .
Besides having very nice rooms, this hotel is in a great location. It is within 5 minutes of the V&A Waterfront which is where you catch the ferry for Robben Island and can find lots of restaurants. The hop on - hop off bus is only a 3 minute walk and there is a great crafts village on the way. The breakfast is very good with lots of variety and it was nice being able to eat outside near the swimming pool. The staff was very friendly and will go out of your way to meet your needs. In fact, we wanted to ship some souvenirs home and they made all the arrangements for us so that we did not have to take time away from our vacation.
We had a family vacation with 4 members and one infant in Cape Town in Dec 2013 / Jan 2014. We spent a total of six nights at this Hotel which we find is ideally located very close to the Victoria Albert Waterfront in Cape Town. It is within walking distance not only from the Waterfront, but also from the Hop on Hop off Busses that can take you all over Capetown.
We found the Staff to be very cordial and very accommodating. Our request for a room with a double bed for our son and daughter in law with their infant was most adequately met by giving them a Suite for five days.
The Hotel has a very nice ambience too. I would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone going for a vacation to Cape Town.
After one year, we returned to the Portswood Hotel. It is still the same hotel, good middle class. We chose it again because it's location is fantastic for every traveler who wants to be less than 5 minutes walking distance from the V&A waterfront. There are no complaints about the hotel, our room was big, breakfast good and service fine.
