It’s taken us some time to recover from our experience at Parker Cottage. Real life, back home, isn’t perfect. Life at Parker Cottage is. Beautiful people – all of them. Caring. Genuine. Fun. Beautiful accommodations. Warm, comfortable. Spectacular breakfasts. A perfect location, nestled in a quiet neighbourhood on the flank of Signal Hill but within walking distance to everywhere in Central Cape Town.
We were told we set a record, 52 nights at Parker Cottage. We could have stayed forever.

Oh yes you did! It was a record of records. Hercules would have been proud :-) We actually couldn't quite believe at first that guests wanted to stay with us for almost three months but you did! And what is most complimentary of you is that in all that time, we didn't drop the ball.

It was fun coming up with upgrades to your room every time you went away on a shorter trip during your stay. I think the air conditioner, installed in honour of the Winter Olympics, might have been the icing on the cake....

And now we're already talking about a second booking for April 2015? We are so very honoured. I think we'll have to lock down one room for you to stay in on a permanent basis.

My wife, three daughters and i had the pleasure of staying at Parker cottage for 5 nights at the end of our holiday in South Africa. Everything about Parker Cottage is first class, from the beautiful building, to top quality service and a classic breakfast.. Phil really helped us plan our stay in Capetown to ensure we got the most out of the visit, this included booking tours, restaurants, taxis etc. I can fully recommend this guest house.

Hi Henry! It was super fun planning your stay in Cape Town, particularly with the necessity of planning every day around ice cream and some days around horse riding :-) We like to sit all our guests down and plan their time in Cape Town as best we can: there's simply too much to do here (as you now know) to leave it all to chance!

Enjoy Houston and we'll see you soon.

Not only are the staff warm and welcoming, they are knowledgeable and can point you to sites, restaurants, cafes, wineries, etc. tailored to your interests. Of course, hanging out at the cottage in the garden, in the sitting rooms, and on the verandah is so pleasant you may not be in a hurry to go out.

Thanks so much for saying that Parker Cottage rivals walk around Cape Town! That's an acolade to be proud of. Unlike many of the guesthouses and B&Bs which are right in the centre of Cape Town, we are lucky to have a lot of outside, public areas around the house where you can be private and relaxed. There are plans afoot to extend these areas too with a roof garden at the back of the house, so watch this space!

Hope the experience of being back at work in Addis wasn't too harrowing: we'll see you when you need another break.

We booked a room at Parker Cottage far in advance to our trip and we didn't regret. A very nice welcome from Phil on this morning after 12h of flight, he served us directly breakfast and fresh juice. The room was already ready at 9a.m. so we could get changed directely.

It was a very beautiful room (Koi Pond), ,decorated with taste and really spaceful.

If you love great breakfast, come to Parker Cottage! They serve you everything you want and propose every day a 'today's special'. It's worth to taste it.

We got some nice addresses for other Guesthouses of the same type and plenty of information about town. The owner even booked city-tours for us, a appreciable service. Enjoy!

So pleased that we could get you straight into your room after that flight. I don't know many people who still enjoy flying these days so when we can, we try to get rooms ready the night before (if they're not already booked of course) so that early arrivals like yourselves don't have to wait for us to change the rooms.

Glad you liked the Koi Pond Room! It's one of our most recently redecorated ones and has these lovely double sash windows, almost three metres tall, that let in loads of light.

See you very soon guys: thanks for the review!

Parker Cottage thoroughly understands the needs and aspirations of its guests and creates a truly 5-star experience. From the moment one arrives to a royal welcome, his or her name emblazoned on the chalkboard, to the personalized tour and restaurant information, to the delicious breakfasts served on the porch or in the garden, Phil and Liz have it figured out with all the nice touches. One really feels at home and that no request is too much.

My wife and I also enjoyed the wine tasting which offered a chance to meet fellow travelers from all over the world. We highly recommend Parker Cottage as a great home away from home.

Thank you Connisseur321! (Love your mug shot by the way. Pun intended.) Somebody a while back made the most amusing comment: 'If the owners are called Philip and Elizabeth, you'd expect to be treated royally at Parker Cottage - and you are!' We're so pleased that you found the same.

Unlike most B&Bs, we see no reason to offer lesser service than a five star hotel (and in fact, several of our guests have said that we actually offer BETTER service than many five star hotels). It's not easy to get the most out of Cape Town: there's such a staggering range of things to do here (even the locals can't keep up) that we decided to take it upon ourselves to help our guests to plan, and book their stay here. So far, that decision seems to have been the right one!

I'd like to echo everyone else in saying that this place is amazing. The location, rooms, staff, breakfast, standards; well everything really, are all top-of-the-line. My experience was wonderful and I can't wait to be back.

Thanks so much! Cape Town's waiting for you. All you have to do now is try to find a night or two when we actually have some open rooms. Gosh, it's busy (not least because of lovely reviews like this one).

My wife Irene and I stayed three nights at Parker Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed it. We first met Lexi who explained the best sightseeing that we would enjoy including the Slave Museum which was fascinating. As it was the time of the missing MH370 flight I wanted to keep up to speed with SKY News and that was arranged between Lexi and Phil.
Phil also arranged a 'Free' wine tasting hour one early evening where we met all the other guests.
The two rooms we used were of high quality, clean and both had super king-sized beds.
Diane and other staff were also very helpful. We will stay again next time we are in the Mother City.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to Parker Cottage! We’re a little different than the usual hotel or guesthouse experience. Rather than being just a conventional ‘place to sleep’, we offer a very much unplugged, urban retreat right in the creative heart of Cape Town. So although we offer free and fast internet, we don't do minibars, piped music or even reception desks. Think of us like a country house in the middle of the city. We’re the kind of place where you can rediscover the art of conversation, endless breakfasts and total serenity. Parker is a social place too: our legendary free wine evenings occur at least twice a week and there’s no ‘cut off’ time for our gourmet breakfasts either. ... more   less
