My husband and I stayed at Parker Cottage at the end of our trip to South Africa in March. Staying there was a highlight of our entire trip. After travelling around the country for a month, we discovered that the best B&B's were the ones that were genuinely interested in us as guests. Phil and his staff at Parker Cottage excelled at this. Phil, the owner, couldn't do enough for us. He even helped us sort out a problem we had with our airline tickets, which took much of his time the day we were leaving. As newly arriving guests , we were given an orientation to the city, and Phil was only too happy to help us plan activities according to our interests. Sharing drinks and snacks on the veranda before supper, was a great opportunity to visit with Phil and the other guests. Although the friendly and welcoming atmosphere was a highlight of our stay at Parker Cottage, the house itself was an added bonus. It is a roomy, inviting place to be, and our air conditioned room was immaculate and comfortable in every way. The bathroom towels were the nicest we had encountered in our month of travelling. Breakfast was delicious, free internet was available at any time, and we were encouraged to make ourselves "at home" in our surroundings.
We highly recommend Parker Cottage, and feel that we arrived as guests, but truly did leave as friends.

My wife and I stayed at Parker Cottages at the end of a month long trip to Africa. The service and hospitality was exceptional. Phil and his staff are warm, welcoming and the make you feel that you are genuinely welcome. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, the common areas are warm and cosy and the wine and snacks every other night on the veranda gave the place a wonderful relaxed feel. The dining recommendations provided by Phil and the staff are worth exploring. The recommendations we got proved very satisfying with the same kind of reception and service at the recommended restraunts as we received at Parkers. Of particular note were MIllers Thumb, a small family bistro just a couple of blocks from Parkers that had a great atmosphere, wonderful staff and excellent food. Jane and Solly the propoprietors appear to have the same philosophy as Phils does that they want to have you feel as if you are old friends and welcome any time. The other notable dinner was at Beserka. Wonderful food and great service. Not within walking distance but just a short cab ride downtown. Very creative cooking and great service. Both of these recommendations are well priced.
Overall, I would highly recommend this location to any traveller, whether there for business or for pleasure. A wonderful place all around.

Our first time in Capetown and we have a wonderfull stay in Parker Cottage. The room was extremely nice decorated in Victorian Style and the breakfast was one to come back for. The house is very cosy and has a nice porch where you can sit and relax. Also Phil, our host, did everything to feel us at home. And we really did, we felt pity that we had to leave again.
He advised us about everything we wanted to know. That made our planning for our holiday a lot easier. Thanks a lot!!

Me and my wife had a first stop on our second Southafrican vacation at Parkers, where we stayed for four nights. Afterwards we realized that we should have done it the reverse way and made Parkers the last stop. We of course compared Parkers with each of the other four places we stayed at and found them being on a very good second place all of them. What makes Parkers the best, or maybe "best of the best"? I would say; every detail. Phil and Liz doesn't miss a detail. From taking care of the car rental when we ("I did it") demolished the car the first day til making the impossible restaurant booking on the nicest near-by restaurant. How do you discover a good culture in any organization? You look at the staff and see how willingly they work with your more or less odd questions. The people working as staff at Parkers where just delightful and so serviceminded that we can't find many corresponding examples what so ever.
And finally; An evening with the other guests at Parkers and the most wonderful and warm cocktail party with very high quality Southafrican wines. With Phil as the perfect host all the way through the night. For Phil just felt like it!
We miss Parkers and will absolutely return next time we visit Cape Town. Our advise; You need not do any more research. Just book Parkers. You can't stay at a better place, regardless of the price.

If you came to CapeTown staying at Phil's Parker Cottage is a must! Perfectly situated close to the center, a quiet, cosy place with garden, veranda, individally designed rooms each with a wonderful bathroom. But it's maily the athmosphere created by Phil. which makes the staying unique. He helped us in any manner, phoned for us, burned photos on CDs and gave us plenty of tipps. His employees helped also to create a familiar well-feeling. At night you have the opportunity to sit on the (safe) verande, have excellent wines and chat with Phil. We were very sorry to leave this place after six days, but we'llcame back for sure

We most definitely landed on our feet when we chose to stay at Parker Cottage for the last week of our 3 week holiday to South Africa. It was everything we hoped for; and more.
We shy away from large faceless 5* international hotels but nevertheless have extremely high standards when it comes to cleanliness, sevice and overall standard of accommodation. Parker Cottage exceeded our expectations.
Situated in a really convenient location for walking into the city centre or driving (or taking cheap taxi rides) to anywhere else you may like to visit (such as Table Mountain, V&A Waterfront, Camps etc Bays), it still manages to retain an unbelievably chilled and relaxed atmosphere. The service was impeccable. Phil, who only took over ownership a few months back, was the perfect host; and nothing was too much trouble. Every request was dealt with with enthusiasm and a smile; and his staff are also truly fabulous. We stayed in room 8 which is spacious and has a lovely bathroom with a free standing bath and hand shower, as well as a separate shower with a great shower head! Managed to peek at several of the other rooms on change over days as well, and they all look lovely. Take our advice and go there. You won't be disappointed. Oh - great breakfasts on the terrace, too.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to Parker Cottage! We’re a little different than the usual hotel or guesthouse experience. Rather than being just a conventional ‘place to sleep’, we offer a very much unplugged, urban retreat right in the creative heart of Cape Town. So although we offer free and fast internet, we don't do minibars, piped music or even reception desks. Think of us like a country house in the middle of the city. We’re the kind of place where you can rediscover the art of conversation, endless breakfasts and total serenity. Parker is a social place too: our legendary free wine evenings occur at least twice a week and there’s no ‘cut off’ time for our gourmet breakfasts either. ... more   less
