We arrived at the airport and hotel sent a driver to pick us up. We arrived at 10.00 a.m. but they still let us check into our room. The attic room was two storied with kitchen, microwave, kettle and even Nespresso coffe making machine with six capsules. Bathrooms both down and upstairs, both with showers. Large king sized bed which was very comfortable.

Staff very very. Friendly especially Precious on reception. Breakfast was good buffet breakfast with hot bacon and all trimmings.

Room Tip: Worth joining Prokard club if you are staying in Protea hotels

Was very impressed with the hotel decor. The room was lovely. Well thought out and decorated nicely. Little details from the maid were also a nice touch (eg leaving the TV guide on the right page). The walk to the waterfront is ok during the day, but I got taxis back when it was dark as the route was quite intimidating (R30).

I don't often stay in a Protea Hotel unless it's for business. Thus was a pleasant surprise as chain hotels are often band and generic. My room was unpleasantly smelly when I arrived but this what been sorted out by the time I returned from dinner. The bathroom was pleasant and the shower was nice and hot once I had worked out that the hot and cold were swopped! A good sleep in a comfortable bed. I really liked the desk set up in the room - very useful. Unfortunately there was no view of either the sea or the mountain from my room - a real negative in Cape Town. And the road outside s noisier than I would have liked. A full breakfast buffet - standard but well-presented and prepared. I had to pay for parking (daily rate) in the underground parking area. I really think charging hotel guests for parking is unnecessary.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for a room far from the roads.

I stayed here three nights at the end of a tour of South Africa. Super hotel and fairly near to the waterfront. You are best to take a taxi to the waterfront (we were advised by our tour company to do that). The hotel also offers a shuttle to the waterfront in the evening and also a return to the hotel.

The room was spacious and clean. It was near the main road but not particularly noisy. The food was very good and there was a wide selection of food at breakfast.

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Bar staff were efficient and friendly and even took the care of asking if you felt better. (I was not well on one of the nights and it was nice for someone to ask if you were OK!)

The hotel is situated on a lively road that connects the atlantic seaboard to the cbd. Design is edgy, but not at all plastic. Quality of facilities, service, and rooms is well above average.
To my mind, area is very safe, and there are several excellent restaurants and lounges/bars on your doorstep. Cbd is a ten minute walk, and waterfront a 5 minute drive.
This is not the cheapest option, but it is good value. Try to get a room higher up. Windows are double glazed, so street facing is fine. If you want dead quiet, then ask for an inward facing room.
