We started off our South African holiday with two nights at the Westin, arriving quite late from our international flight and were greeted with smiles and hellos by the staff. Our room overlooked the harbour and had all possible amenities that we could have wanted.
The next morning we went downstairs to have breakfast but found that the hotel charged at outrageous amount of Rand (around EUR 16-17 per person). Having been to SA before we opted to take the shuttle bus to the Waterfront and had a lovely breakfast at one of the restaurants there.
The hotel Spa is lovely, with a jacuzzi overlooking the harbour.
Overall great stay, tip for the hotel: have a lower priced option for breakfast (some travelers are not on business so the boss won't pay the bill ;-) )

Dear Duchtchie

Thank you for your positive review of our hotel.

We are very happy to know you enjoyed your xstay with us at the Westin Cape Town and we hope to see you again very soon for your next stay with us.

I reviewed your comments with regards to the breakfast pricing, our breakfast buffets is one of the finest available in Cape town among 5 Star Hotels and is also priced in line with our offerings. I am sorry that you found it too expensive.

We stayed in the Westin for four nights in January 2013. I was a little concerned that it would be a bit far and unsafe if we wanted to walk to the city center, but since we mostly did day trips in and out of the city, it really didn't matter and was nice to be so close to the highway and have valet parking. We felt fine walking to the city center (15minute walk) although weren't out past 9pm.

The breakfast buffet was outstanding and the staff were extremely nice. My husband loved the view in the hot tub and steam rooms and even our bedroom had a wonderful view of the city.

The Sheraton Arabella used to be the showpiece and the number 1 place to stay when in Cape Town. It was rebadged the Westin some years and has managed to maintain the excellent standard set by the Arabella, particularly in terms of the Club breakfast which has to be one of the best we have had in all our wanderings around the world.

The ambience is set immediately you walk into the lobby. Staff are friendly and helpful and check in is quick and efficient. Most, if not all rooms, have a glorious view of either the mountains or the bay. The rooms are tastefully furnished and the bathrooms well-designed.

The location is very good, just down the road of the main shopping and other interesting areas of the city and a short shuttle ride to the Waterfront. The convention centre is right next door.

The pool, sauna and spa are on the top floor and the views from the long, large pool are spectacular.

All in all well worth the price tag. The same cannot be said for a number of other upmarket hotels in the Cape Peninsula area.

The buffet breakfast is superb and caters for every nationality - they have a vast selection of fruit, cheese, yogurt, nuts, smoothies, fresh juices, porridge, granola, muffins, eggs (fried, scrambled, poached, omelette cooked to your liking), English breakfast section, Asian selection, sushi, American selection (pancakes, waffles, etc).

It is located close to the V&A Waterfront and a free hotel shuttle bus operates every 30 mins.

The hotel staff are professional and helpful and the convention centre was good.  The rooms were simple, clean and the shower was great although I think it is probably more of a business hotel.

The spa looked great, but unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to use it!

I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Westin Cape Town for the first week of our 2 week holiday in South Africa. There are many to choose from in Cape Town, and although this was at the top end of the price range, we thought it was worth it - and we were not dissapointed. We found the staff very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and used some of their recommendations for our second week of travel.

The hotel itself is top notch - service and food were very impressive - and very reasonable for a hotel. the WiFi vouchers, as well as the internet enabled PC's / Mac's in the foyer proved very useful planning our second week and the parking was convenient too. The Hotel is about 15 minutes walk to the V&A waterfront, and a similar distance to Cape Town city centre.

Only 2 minus points... firstly the free shuttle bus when full goes early and its 30 mins till it leaves again. Even though there is plenty of time to return and collect the people waiting it doesn't ... which is bizarre. Should you be unfortunate enough to arrive downsatirs to find the shuttle gone 10 mins early as we did (twice) its about 50 Rand taxi.

Secondly, we availed ourselves of the "guest services" facility when planning our second week. We already knew where we were going to stay as it had been recommended by several friends and family and the lady on Guest services rang the guest house on our behalf. We stayed at the guest house, only having to return a few days later to collect my wife's purse I'd left in the safe only to be told the lady concerned had subsequently rung after we'd left demanding a 20% commision which they would have to pass onto us. I rang the lady concerned at the Westin from the guest house (much to her surprise) only to be hung up on.... enough said.

Those things aside, a most enjoyable stay and we would return witout hesitation - and would confidently recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Two views available - the V&A waterside or Table mountain - whichever you prefer! Get to the fre...
