this hotel is well situated and convenient for tourist and business people alike. The facilities are top notch and the service is superb .
Rooms are spacious and modern and the view from any of the rooms on the higher elevation is really great. Food and beverage is pricey but then you have to expect that from a 5 star hotel.
I will definitely stay here again.

A very nice, welcoming, friendly and modern hotel. The rooms were spacious, modern and clean. I had a view of the city to the left and the mountain to the right. The staff were very friendly and helpful - always smiling and always happy to help. There is a shuttle service to the V&A Waterfront which takes about 5 minutes to get to. The hotel was happy for me to use the Spa to get changed as late checkout was not available. Quite close to the airport (15-20mins). Excellent breakfast buffet with lots of space and choice of food. If you are a Starwood Preferred guest you get a better room so sign up before you go !

Just completed a six night stay at this hotel and was really blown away. I'm SPG Platinum, and booked this stay on points as I really needed some warm weather time and Cape Town appealed. (Because I booked on points, I don't have a good sense of "value"; unsure what the rooms go for on the market.)

When I saw the size of the hotel and that it is attached to the convention centre, I dialled-down my expectations — in North America that would generally mean an average, bland, big brand experience. The Westin Cape Town was anything but.

I had submitted suite upgrade requests, which did not come through. I mentioned this upon check-in, and found myself upgraded to a Westin Executive Club Room on the 12th floor. Gorgeous views of both the port and Table Mountain. A small living room leads onto a large bedroom with an extremely comfortable king bed. Two flat screen TVs; one in each room. The bathroom was really lovely; heated slate tile floors, separate tub and shower, with dual sinks in the main bathroom area, then a smaller, separate WC with a toilet, bidet, and small sink.

The Executive Club on the 19th Floor serves an excellent continental buffet-style breakfast; top notch and with decent bubbly. (An a la carte menu is also available and those items looked great — I had the continental every day and was very happy with that.) The very attentive and very nice wait staff served decent coffee and hovered about to just the right degree.

I can say that the staff at this hotel is really great, no matter where I encountered them or what I asked of them.

Other features that I either liked or sounded good:

- heard good thing about the pool and spa, both located on the top (19th) floor
- there are cruiser style bicycles out front that are available to guests (though Cape Town drivers don't seem that friendly towards cyclists)
- there's a cigar lounge on the mezzanine level that has a very good selection of Habanos at decent prices (I smoked a Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 that was about $19 CDN; about the same as I'd pay in a Toronto shop.)

I fell in love with Cape Town and I'll be going back. When I do, I'll look forward to staying at this hotel again; it's very good (what every chain hotel should aspire to), and the service was excellent.

Situated next to the Conference Centre, with shuttle service to Waterfront - or catch the ferry on the canal, next to the main entrance!
Booking in was quick and friendly. I stayed on the 17th floor which allowed access to the Executive Lounge on the 19th floor, for complimentary drinks and snacks and a wonderful view of Cape Town. ( Tip - try to get on 17 or 18th floor)
Rooms spacious and well equipped, with everything a business traveller needs - including free WiFi. ( although at times this was slow)
King sized bed, and quality linen make for a good nights rest.
Large bathroom with bath and shower and complimentary toiletries.
Breakfast could be had at the Executive venue or on the ground floor.
I found the ground floor choice of foods more comprehensive and quality was excellent.
The only negative was the parking, below the hotel. Also there was a charge for parking here.
This area was full and cars were parked along the side, where you have to drive. It maybe better to park in the adjacent Conference Centre parking.
Staff are well trained and friendly and checkout was also quick and efficient despite many people, checking out.
Overall a very good experience.
Check internet booking sites for best deals!

Lets start with the positives:

Proximity to Cape Town city centre, Convention Centre and V & A Waterfront - good. Large glass hotel - rooms in hot weather get very hot and air con in our room was not strong but there is a small window to open.

Public areas of hotel are clean & well maintained. Front of house staff are very good - reception is excellent and Concierge and Valet Parking staff are fantastic. Food and Beverege is very good with excellent breakfasts. Some breakfast staff may need a little extra training but the dining Manager was doing his best to chivvy one particular lady who may have been better suited to another area of the hotel.

Great shuttle service to the V & A Waterfront, very useful car hire office in the hotel. Duty Managers attended to issues quickly and I particulary thank Robin Scott and Christian Thomson for their professional handling of issues brought to their attention.

Rooms are average size with good views of either the docks or mountain.

Negatives: Guests should not have to wait mor than one and a half hours to check into the rooms after the advertised check-in time - this is unacceptable. Management must address this problem and either ensure that housekeeping is doing their job properly or provide more support to housekeeping for additional staff, Alternatively guests MUST vacate their rooms by the advertised checkout time to facilitate incoming guests. This problem was experienced by several guests in our party.

Guests should not find refuse from the previous guests in the 'newly cleaned' rooms - unacceptable.

Guests expect the bed linnen to fit the bedding configurations - our duvet was short on each side of the width of the bed by 10 inches on each side - it looked like a single bed duvet used for a double bed. This is not expected at a five star hotel.

Guest minibar refrigerator - be aware that this rfrigerator is fitted with a sensor - each time you take out an item from the refrigerator the sesor activates a charge to your account. Esstentially you can't even lift the bottle of wine to see what it is without it activating a charge to your account regardless of whether you consume that item or not. This is a ridiculous system.
Guests have every right to expect a useable refrigerator when paying the prices at an international five star hotel. Guests should not be compelled to pay for each opening of the refrigerator door particularly if they wish to place their bottle of water or soft drink or diabeties medication into the refrigerator. Management should consider the agravation this causes guests versus the financial benefit or possible loss of patronage.

Overall, the hotel was OK by international business standard but it definitely did not measure to 5star. Rooms were tired and definitely in need of a very good clean and spruce up.
