“Perfect hotel for a city trip”
Reviewed 7 March 2014 via mobile

I stayed at the Cape Town Lodge Hotel for six nights in December 2013 while attending a conference.
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to major attractions.
The views from my room where stunning. The rooms are very spacious, with comfortable beds.
Breakfast is excellent, but a bit repetitive. The gym is small, but usually, there aren't many people there, so it doesn't really matter. The pool is a bit of a puddle- but as long as a quick cool off with a nice view is enough, it serves its purpose. Don't expect to be able to swim laps, though.
The staff is very attentive and helpful, as was the driver who took me back to the airport. The food at the restaurant is excellent, and the bar wells stocked.
I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

No welcome from front desk very surly and didn't provide any info about the hotel apart from internet has to be paid for!!
Decor very dated.
Rooms clean and functional.
Pool area nice pool bar not open very often.
It was my birthday when we were there and my husband wanted to arrange champagne and strawberries to be delivered to the room. Front deck refused to do this and said room service wouldn't accommodate this request either!!
The barman and chauffeurs were great and were the only staff that made us feel welcome.
At breakfast there were far too many staff. A manager gave a member of waiting staff a verbal warning about not wearing a badge, this was in front of all of the guests having breakfast including us.
Terrible piano player in the breakfast room.
We were charged for phone calls that hadn't even connected to the person we were calling.
All in all not a good hotel and we would not return.

Our large group of 20 had a great stay at this centrally located, clean, affordable and very friendly hotel. I want to say straight off the bat that the staff was incredible - accommodating, super helpful, and helped us at every turn. Everything from dinner reservations, taxi service, recommendations for getting around town - they did it all and with a smile! The hotel is within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, the waterfront, Bo Kaap, attractions and museums, you name it.

Only two very minor complaints. The air-conditioning unit in one of the rooms wasn't working properly. Because the hotel was fully booked, they did their best to fix it, but they didn't move our party to another room. Secondly, upon checkout, many of the rooms had charges from the minibar that were erroneous. I suggest you have someone check your bill each day to ensure that you aren't being billed for drinks or snacks that you didn't consume. Having said that, the staff removed the charges in question, and we paid our bills without further problem.

I would stay again and thank the staff for everything they did to make our stay the best!

A very handy homely hotel in centre of Cape Town, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The only thing was we didn't have a very good view we overlooked another building, others in he group had better views of Table Mountain!

Cape Town Lodge Hotel is centrally located in Cape Town, close to Bo-Kaap, Long Street and Greenmarket. To get to the Waterfront, we had to take a taxi.
The room were nice and spacious. We stayed in a suite and it was worth the extra cost.
The breakfast was very nice. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful.
Disadvantages were that the pool area was quite small. Moreover, it was not safe to go in the area outside the hotel when it was dark.
