“Excellent Stay”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

I just returned from a short stay at the Parliament Hotel and what a nice experience. The hotel is convenient, reasonably priced and extremely clean. On my return travels I will definitely stay here again. The service is five star without question. I've never been treated so exceptionally well. I had managed to catch a cold on during my travels and upon arrival asked if I could have a glass of water as I was somewhat dehydrated. Much to my surprise they had an entire pitcher of ice water, topped with slices of citrus fruit sent to my room within 5 minutes. And they did it again every evening as I returned from my day trips.

Room Tip: 501 has a nice view but didn't receive the free WiFi signal. I was advised that they are in the...

This great hotel is located at Barack street in the heart of Cape town.

It was very easy to find the hotel by car.A lot of attractions within walking distance (Long street, Parliament building, company gardens, market square) Other attractions are only a short drive away to the waterfront it's about 5 minutes by car.

A taxi to waterfront will cost you about R50
The hotel is more than willing to help you out with transport or any other questions you might have. We travelled by car the hotel offers secured parking at a good price R60 a day.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. This we experienced today when we came back to this hotel to stay another night, unfortunately they were fully booked. But 2 of their staff members helped us with finding other accommodation which was really great.

The rooms are clean and equipped with a flat screen they are a bit on the small side but well it is down-town so space is limited.

The breakfast is tasty and the staff helps out very well during breakfast.

The rates are competitive and you will get great service and hospitality for a very decent price, we would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes value for money.

If you visit the hotel make sure you visit the eastern bazaar as well where you can get great food at a great price! (read my review about this place as well if you're interested)

Service very good but in an old part of the city. Best to have a car when visiting. Furniture a bit rundown but comfortable

Room Tip: Choose a room on top floors. Floor 5 and six

Just returned from a trip to South Africa that included a 5-day stay in Cape Town. The Parliament Hotel is a perfect location for a great price. The staff was extremely helpful, and Freda, Nick and Dominick were outstanding. They were excited to share the beauty of Cape Town and gave us great suggestions as to what we needed to see and do during our visit.

The hotel itself is adequate. There were some problems with hot water in the shower in the morning. Seemed to run out very quickly, maybe just the rush hour of morning showers. The daily included breakfast was excellent. Very nice touch.

Overall, great location, perfect price and a willing and helpful staff. I will definitely return!

My wife and I stayed at Parliament and were mildy disappointed, considering the other glowing reviews. It was OK for the price and convenient locations for all things downtown. While the service was indeed prompt and friendly, the infrastructure needs serious improvement.

The amenities were sparse but functional. However, the quality of the beds and bathroom facilities needs some serious re-work to be done. Stairs and Elevator were functional but in a poor to reasonable condition.

Wouldn't be my first choice but will work if it is an absolute necessity.

Room Tip: Don't select rooms on 4th floor

We are an Australian couple in our early fifties who stayed three nights and have only good things to say. We were met at the airport at 9.30 pm by the taxi we had arranged through the hotel and made welcome by the friendly staff. Both the living quarters and private bathroom were large and clean, although we were told we had fluked an upgrade. Breakfasts were good but as it's a few blocks from the tourist area, we ate in after our first day's sightseeing at the hotel's Italian restaurant. The food was okay but no bargain. Certainly in terms of value for money (under $100), we have no complaints compared to the advertised nightly rates at other Cape Town hotels that we googled.

We have used the Parliament Hotel quite a few times during the past two years and every time the experience is a pleasure! Antoni (one of the owners), Freda and her team is very organized, professional provide such an excellent service from the minute we arrive until our departure. The hotel is newly renovated so everything is new - what a pleasure the interior is beautiful, the breakfast delicious and most importantly the hotel is very clean! The location of the hotel is very central.
I will never stay anywhere else when I visit Cape Town in future!
