“Excellent small hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

This hotel is very convenient for the CBD, District 6 museum, Slave Lodge & St George's Cathedral. The Hop on-Hop off bus stops nearby. The staff are amazing, nothing was too much trouble & the service generally excellent. The little restaurant adjoining which served the breakfast was also very good.

The Parliament Hotel is centrally located with rooms that are average, in my opinion. What makes this hotel special is the fantastic service by the manager and his staff, and the cooperation they have with the little Italian restaurant next door, where the breakfast is served and the restaurant owner takes great pride in his different pasta dishes. I do not think you can get better value for money in such a central location.

My partner and I recently stayed at the Parliament for a week and would do so again. The executive room we stayed in was spacious and clean, the beds were comfortable, there was plenty of storage space, and it was nice having a safe and refrigerator in the room--all at a very affordable price. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and we loved the convenience of having breakfast at the Cousins Italian Trattoria, which is connected to the hotel (its dinner offerings are delicious, too). The hotel is in a great location that is fairly quiet (see below) and near lots of attractions (a block from the District Six Museum and the Gardens area), and we felt safe walking around (though we were back at the hotel by sunset).

The only drawback of this property is that Barrack St. can get a bit noisy at night (at least when we were there), but we solved that by turning on the fan on and that cancelled out the noise.

We highly recommend this hotel, which is a real bargain in the heart of the city.

The hotel is old and the outside noise is a bit disturbing. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the food is good at the Italian restaurant that is connected to the Parliament. I would book this hotel again if I return to Cape Town.

This hotel is good value for money as it includes brekkie for R750 a night. The location is perfect as Long Street (7 min), city center, Waterfront (30 min) are a walk away. The presence of police officers in the CBD make it very safe. Stay here if you have things to do in Cape Town and come home late for a bed and shower. The building is clean and the rooms are nice, the building is old and much of the time one can hear the neighbors water and toilet as they flush or shower.

Overall, a good place to stay in Cape Town.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the 7th Floor as there is a door that leads to a parking lot which people use. It wil...

I stayed in the Parliament hotel for a whole week back in august, the hotel is located in the heart of the city of cape town hence I never had to take a taxi or use the public transportation for my destinations so I literally spent my whole trip walking and I was feeling safe even during late hours since there is a police station near the hotel, the staff are super kind and friendly down from the room service up to the great hotel owner who you can see everyday making sure that the guests are having a good time with no troubles, the rooms are always super clean, and the breakfast is extremely delicious.

the hotel prices are cheap comparing to the great value and it can fit into anyone budget, if you are going for a business trip then Parliament is the best hotel to stay in and if you are going for a vacation and pools are not a concern then defiantly Parliament is the place to go.

Room Tip: i recommend the executive rooms in the 7th floor which are quiet and have a great view on the table...

We enjoyed our second stay at the Parliament Hotel as much as the first a year ago. Very friendly and helpful staff, spacious clean rooms and delicious breakfast. For a Cape Town City Bowl break or holiday on a budget you cannot beat this hotel for value. Also, this part of the city used to be a bit of the wrong end. This is, however, busy changing with many interesting shops and cafés that have opened recently. So you get a great location in a beautiful setting a walk away from all CT city attractions and away from the hectic hustle, bustle and rowdiness of Long street, the traditional trendy side.
