“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

We are a “mature” couple and recently had 4 nights’ stay at the Parliament Hotel in Cape Town.
The hotel is very well positioned just a short walk away from the CBD and city sights.
We had booked an executive twin room and it was very comfortable and spacious with a partial mountain view – some buildings down the street blocked the mountain.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and any requests immediately attended to.
The WiFi was password protected, free and quite fast.
We had no car so did all our sightseeing either walking or on the Hop on Hop off bus.
Two stops for the Hop on Hop off bus were very close by.
Breakfast was continental buffet to start with and then one can order eggs (any style) with mushrooms, bacon, tomato and sausage.
Right next door – you can actually walk through the breakfast room – is a fabulous Italian restaurant called “The Cousins” and is run by two cousins.
The food was excellent and well priced. We had 3 out of our 4 dinners there.
The Parliament Hotel was a great place to stay and we would certainly stay there again if in Cape Town..
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Read the reviews, check out the location, our room was great and I'm sure others were similar.

Basic hotel with no frills but was good value for money and in a good location in Cape Town. The service was very good even though we got in very late at night. The breakfast was good. The rooms are ok sized and quiet which was perfect after a long flight. Note that there is parking in the garage.

We stayed at the Parliament Hotel for four nights at the end of January 2014. We could not believe the wonderful service and hospitality offered by Antonio and his staff. Due to airline schedules we arrived about four hours before the nominated checkin time. we were shown to our room almost immediately. After 23 hours of travelling from Australia, it is hard to explain how much we appreciated this. The excellent and helpful service continued with help and advice for our sightseeing, taxis etc - nothing was too much trouble. Loved the breakfast in the funky café next door run by two Italians. The location of the hotel is excellent for walking to many attractions including museums and for the main shopping area of Cape Town. We loved the view of Table Mountain from our room.

Where do I even begin? Let me preface that I rarely wax poetic on anything besides the occasional sunset and Sunday Night Football, but this particular hotel especially deserves.

The Staff: The second that you walk through the door the staff make it abundantly clear that they will move oceans for you. When we arrived to Cape Town (s/p 20+ hour jaunt from the States) the staff immediately transitioned us from our high stress NYC mindset to mellowed-out, blissfully happy Capetonians. For one, they arranged every possible day trip/romantic dinner/city tour imaginable, from simple excursions to Camps Bay and Clifton Beach, to complex and absolutely delightful trips to Stellenbosch for Wine Tasting. Every single dinner reservation made by their staff was perfect, and they always somehow managed to get us into first class, often fully booked restaurants! While all of the staff was amazingly helpful and gracious, Antonio and Sha-meemah particularly impressed my wife and me. When we first arrived at the hotel, we had the pleasure of being greeted by Sha-Meemah who, upon telling her that we were on our Honeymoon, instantly set about fashioning a spectacular and totally romantic dinner and travel itinerary for us (including placing a beautiful heart-shaped arrangement of rose petals on our bed!). Sha-meemah was absolutely devoted to making our experience fantastic, and we benefited greatly from her extensive knowledge of the city, her downright impressive work ethic, and by her sincere interest in optimizing our entire vacation experience. Antonio is also deserving of great praise. His mellow demeanor and go-to attitude proved an awesome combo. He really went out of his way to do everything for us and was essential in finding us awesome places to check out, especially on slower days (Sundays in Cape Town are pretty slow, a lot of stores are shut down – nevertheless, Antonio always found awesome things for us to do!).

Location: Very well situated in the heart of the city, directly adjacent to parliament. The area is extremely busy and is close to pretty much every attraction. We absolutely loved meandering about and going to museums, wandering through the company gardens, or snacking on pretty much everything in site (the food is so good!)

Price: eminently affordable. When you consider what you get, the hotel is a tremendous bargain!

Food: Breakfast food is plentiful and delicious. I would also always get a double cappuccino that was AWESOME. The associated restaurant is operated by a number of Italian chefs, which essentially translated to outstanding meals, wonderful ambience, and insanely caffeinated coffee (the effects of which I am still recovering from). I should also mention that the restaurant functions for dinner and (I think) lunch.

The rooms: Impeccably clean, equipped with all necessary creature comforts, and all of the rooms we stayed in (three, as we were constantly moving around and then returning – I booked a tad too late and we had to move to various hotels as I wasn’t able to make one contiguous booking) had spectacular views of Table Mountain!

Booking: As I alluded to earlier, I would book well in advance. Frankly, this rule applies to all of the highly ranked Cape Town Hotels which book very quickly!

In sum, best hotel experience in Cape Town. I would recommend to anyone and I am certain that we will stay there again when we return to Cape Town. Thank you all for the contributing to such a lovely Honeymoon experience!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of Table Mountain!

Besides being clean and well located, it's the staff that make this place so wonderful - hats off Kay and Dominic. The breakfast too was a pleasant surprise; not to mention dinner in the neighbouring Italian restaurant. All in all a lovely, well located hotel with great customer service levels!
