Having read many negative reviews before our trip, we were concerned about what we would find. But once we got to Cape Town we wondered whether those with negative comments had stayed in the same hotel. The only downside is the new football stadium partially spoiling the view of Table Mountain. The staff were at all times very friendly and extremely helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable, (not business class). The food was plentiful and appetizing. A great end to 3.5 weeks in South Africa.

very good hotel, very friendly staff, good breakfast, nice room, bathroom with shower & bath, good bed, nice swimming pool, having breakfast, lunch or dinner on the terrace watching the ocean is great!

We stayed here for the weekend at the end of February and it was excellent. The location is amazing (see picture on www.markinskip.co.uk), the staff worked very hard and were friendly. The rooms are a little tired and out-dated but the beds are wonderful and we didn't go to Cape Town to spend hours in the room. We will be going back next year.

I stayed here shortly after the hotel first opened in the mid-1990s and loved it. Unfortunately, the rooms (with the exception of the "business class suites" ) have not been updated since that time and the common areas are shabby. Both my safety box and my bath were broken (and nothing was done about it for the duration of my stay even after I reported it). The in-room carpet was disgustingly dirty. Dreadful, overpriced restaurant. Front desk staff were badly trained. Great location, but not worth the price - there are far better hotels in Cape Town in this price range.
