Stayed in Ritz for two nights. Had booked the room 5 weeks ahead . On arrival we were presented with an absolutely worn down and awful room on the first floor. People were shouting and yelling next door and the atmosphere was very unpleasant. Were moved to another room on second floor....not much better. After complaining again we were promised to be moved to a better room next day.
Stayed the second night on 10th floor in a nice room but still feel that the standard of the service first night was so poor that it spoiled too much of our stay in Cape Town.

Room Tip: Very much depending on which floor you are accommodated ! The lower floors seems to be in very poor...

The hotel is located at Sea Point and on the corner of Main Rd. which is only 3 min. walk from Beach Rd. and the beach itself and its side walk with the beautiful views from the area. The breakfast was very good and the restaurant where it is served is big and facing the pool. The service could improve. Pool was nice but did not try it. I had a transfer arranged myself since I did not find any info here. I searched and found a taxi company called Sport. Drivers were on time waiting for us at arrival and picked me up really early (4:30am) as my flight was 6am. Try to choose a room all the way up. Mine was on 3rd floor and could not change it because it was happening a convention and the place was filled with guests. It is very close to V&A Waterfront which can be reached easily by bus with stops along Beach Rd. the ticket costs 8 Rand. It takes about 6 min to arrive there. Downtown is also very near by and can be reached with the mini-buses (vans) which take you there really fast and cheap (5 rand), just stand on the corner and wait for one. The drivers are correct and drive safely. Downtown is safe and there are a lot things to be done and seen. One of the best things to know Cape Town is buy a two day pass with Cape Town sightseeing. I loved what I saw and their service, they are diligent and always on time. You can hop on & off to see everything you want to. Cape Town is just wonderful, you won't get bored! I spent 5 days and could be there more 5. All days were sunny and temps were really comfortable.

Breakfasts were lovely with plenty of choice, swimming pool and terrace very nice. Bar lacked character but the wine bar connected via a sort of tunnel which we only discovered on the last night was really nice. The bedroom was OK although newly carpeted and painted the furniture was a little passed its best and although the bathroom was newly tiled the lack of ventilation meant it was a bit mouldy in places. Not dirty but not fantistically clean either. I found it odd that they took your towels away mid-morning but you had to wait until mid-afternoon for replacements. Although you did get towels for the pool use. The revolving roof-top restaurant is well worth visiting we went twice. It wasnt expensive and the food was very good. Given what we paid and the location of this hotel I wouldnt rule out using it again.

Hotel overall was nice, it was winter time when I was here and the wind was blowing very strong, when we arrived we got put onto the 21st floor, the 1st room I was given was very cold and there was no hope of getting any sleep that night with the wind howling in through the windows, it was rattling the windows so much that I thought they would come in on us. I asked to move room and got put on the opposite side of the hotel, room 206 or 210, this was a lovely room, no problems here, the breakfast in the hotel was nice, the staff were nice and friendly also, would stay here again if I went back

Room Tip: Ask for room 206 / 210 as the wind was not as strong on this side of the hotel

You can't get better position and value for money! Perfectly located for easy access in ANY direction: a short drive to the city centre or the waterfront; the mountain or the magnificent Peninsula coastline - Camps Bay is just "round the corner"; and the N1 & N2 out of Cape Town heading towards the airport and beyond that the Winelands, are close by. Who doesn't LOVE a room with a view? This hotel provides magnificent views and boasts a revolving restaurant - with not only views, but talented pianist entertaining guests (on both occasions we were there) over a good meal. The breakfast buffet, which is part of most deals offered, caters for every taste and room service provides a good choice of snacks and meals as well. Rooms are clean and comfortable even though they are not of the "posh hotel" variety. Who cares, when you have views like they do!

Room Tip: Request a room on the upper levels for better views & emphasise mountains or sea views depending...

We found this hotel for $65 per night on hotelclub and we had a comfortable stay here. The breakfast is fantastic!!
The hotel is situated in a safe and central neighbourhood with a 30min to the V&A waterfront and many small restaurants to choose from just across the road. Luckily, we had great water views from our room.
The air-conditioner in the room only had heating in the winter. For the week we were in Cape Town, we experience uncannily warm weather and therefore, needed the air-conditioning. However, we ended up opening the windows instead which was lovely.
The only issue we faced was not booking transportation to the airport earlier. On the morning we were to leave, we asked for a cab to be metered rather than a set price (based on the advice given to us by other travellers). The reception failed to tell us that a metered taxi would be significantly more expensive...which it was. Also, the cheapest option would have been to take the transfer offered by the tour office situated right next to reception (for 200 rand)!! The employee in the tour office came out to see us waiting for a taxi and there was a rather heated argument between him and reception regarding the metered taxi option we chose, as he was saying that it was illogical that they didn't ask him.

Other than that, we had an enjoyable stay.

Dirty rooms (the first one we were sent to had a half-eaten apple laying in the room), awful service (apparently a half-eaten apple isn't a big deal to the staff there!) and overall just a run-down and lack, luster experience. Also the 'satellite tv' only consists of free aerial channels. When I asked about it, I was told that it was satellite but those were the only available channels... Just a joke.
