Rooms not as expected .... bathrooms were really not up to standard.
Breakfast standard ...... overall I enjoyed the stay but wouldn`t recommend the hotel, but would certainly visit Cape Town again!!!

Once again, had chosen a hotel only to be worried by Trip Advisor reviews to an extent that I tried to change hotels. ????? What is wrong with some people. If they want 5 star luxury then pay for it. Havent they got better things to worry about on a holiday than the shower head is not quite spraying out equal.. We stopped here May 19th until May 29th 2013 and ok its not 5 star but room is fine, was overlooking ocean and stadium, breakfast is fine serving sausage, eggs bacon, beans , tea and toast, bonus if your english, pool area is lovely ,hotel overall good. Its only 20-30 mins walk from V & A or 50 rand in taxi ,about £4. On a wider scale Cape Town is fantastic, we came mainly for Great White Shark breaching and diving which was immense but so many other things to see and do.Cant rate the city high enough and would definitely stop in this hotel again

Room Tip: Choose a corner room,

Reading some of the reviews before coming here and taking another look at others before writting this; it is difficult to understand just how conflicting the reviews are. The more recent ones would have coincided or overlapped our stay and its puzzling as to how we could have had such different viewpoints. Were we staying the same hotel?

Firstly the negatives: 1. I would agree the Ritz was a little Tired/Drab in parts. The bathroom and fittings could have been in better condition, the shower more precise to control and with an even spray. The cistern was in need of attention to its flushing mechanism. 2. Coffee and tea replenishment was hit and miss. I had to ring down for supplies and received them after a further reminder. 3. I would have preferred not to see the occasional pigeon wandering around the breakfast room; this should have been robustly dealt with. 4. There was a particular female staff member in the Revolving Restaurant whose customer focus should have been much better.

On the plus side; we got all that we asked for in terms of 1. an upper floor, we got the 18th. 2. Sea views, we were given a corner room and so had two views, one of the seafront and ocean, the other over Cape Town. The room itself was clean and large enough for us as we planned to be out rather than staying in the room to watch TV etc. The staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and if you couldn’t see what you wanted, you could get something cooked for you. The lifts were fast and efficient, the bar; small but cosy and with an air conditioned smoking room. One thing I've not seen mentioned in reviews is the said revolving restaurant. Did no one eat there? if not they missed out on a treat; Where else could you have a meal so well cooked and presented; consisting of main course, desert, bottle of wine, glass of beer, water coffee and an ever changing view for £21.50 a head. I would call that excellent value and consequently we ate there on 3 occasions

I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to my closet friends and relatives and there you see my difficulty in understanding the comments made in a lot of other reviews

Room Tip: Choose a high floor. Get a corner room if you want views

The hotel was ok. We stayed here only at night for a couple of days and only used the bed, we did not use any other services. The hotel was not that clean. The staff at times were cranky and mean. Its a good place to sleep though.

If you ONLY need a bed because you are going to be so very busy sightseeing, the bed was fine. Don't expect the services to be as advertised. There is no shuttle service as they advertised and we were told to find a taxi - they didn't even offer to call one for us. There was no breakfast even though an english breakfast was included in the price. You will wait at reception to be served even though you are the only one in the lobby. The location is great if you have a car. If you need to walk, it is fine during the day but I don't know Cape Town that well and wouldn't recomment you walk in that particular block at night. We literally only slept there and we actually started looking for other hotels after the first night. The room had been vacuumed and dusted but the cockroach in our bath made me question the cleanliness. The only reason we stayed is because we literally only slept there as I had meetings during the day. The hairdryer did not work which left me very frustrated as you want to see your clients looking your best... the TV didn't work and I can go on and on... other hotel guests that complained about things were just given a sympathetic smile. One guest asked for a meal voucher to go and eat breakfast somewhere and he was told that they cannot do that - this when breakfast is supposed to be served????? There are too many hotels in Cape Town to settle for this!!!!!

We just spent 7 days in this hotel with a group of 31 senior citizens and we are appauled at what we found! Cockroaches, cigarett burns in the basins< blood stains on the bedding to mention but a few things. Nobody was interested in helping or listening to our complaints! Most dissapointing as we stayd here 3 years ago and it was excellent.
