“Well done”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

I had read some reviews on the hotel that was less than favorable so I was quite nervous. All my concerns disappeared once we arrived and was very pleased with the service, the room and the hotel in general. The breakfast had a great variety and catered to my daughter's fussy eating habits. We had a very comfortable stay at the Ritz. Thank you

Having recently stayed at the Cape Town ritz for 2 weeks I think some reviews are a little unfair. I found the hotel staff very welcoming and friendly and that courtesy from guests go a long way. Excellent location V & A long street and Clifton and camps bay all within a short car journey. The hotel could do with updating but this is a 3 star so the price reflects this. The rooms were clean air conditioning, tv and a reasonable size bathroom with fantastic views of sea point and the stadium. Yes the rooms were dated but again this is reflected in the price. We had an issue with the safe and air conditioning unit but these were delt with quickly and efficiently.

Breakfast could be busy on times but always managed to get a table good selection of food on offer and what I choose was perfectly acceptable, my only complaint was staff were very slow to re stock food and had to be promoted by guests on a number of occasions to refill food items.

We ate at the top of the ritz restaurant which we found was excellent ,good quality food ,excellent service and fabulous views and very reasonably priced by UK prices the bars at the hotel were also good value don't miss happy hour.

Did not use the pool area as was busy sightseeing found the free wi fi in the lobby and bar very useful hotel could be busy on weekends but did not find this a problem there is also good variety of bars and restaurants in sea point if you have had a long day and don't want to go far.

taxi to V and A was about 50 rand there is also the my citi bus service ok in the day but would not recommend in the night sporadic service at best and I waited well over 1/2 hour on few occasions when buses were supposed to run every 15 mins, if you value your time get a taxi.

I would also highly recommend the hop on hop off bus excellent value was about £15 for two days and you could use blue route which you can go to the constantia winery and township tour which we really enjoyed. Red route took you round the city with an evening tour ending with a sunset at signal hill. Would recommend robin island and trip to the wine lands so much to see and do.
Really enjoyed my time in Cape Town can't wait to come back and I would stay at the ritz again

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper avoid the rooms near the lifts as can be noisy in the morning as lots of...

The condition of the communal areas is really the only thing you can complain about. They are in desperate need of updating and renovating including the elevators.

The rooms are modern and spacious and have everything you need and expect. The shower has excellent pressure.

The staff are professional and friendly.

There is a lovely swimming pool and great views and revolving restaurant at the top.

I paid £114 for 4 nights including parking and delicious breakfast so look at for the specials.

It's a 3 star hotel so bear this in mind.

An average package tour hotel, conveniently situated. We were on the 20th Floor which gave excellent views over Sea Point, and was quiet. The pool area was normally OK, as was breakfast, but both could become very stretched given an influx of noisy guests, which the hotel seemed unable or unwilling to control.

Fine as a base from which to visit Cape Town and its surroundings (and more convenient than Camps Bay) but do not expect the London Ritz!. The rooftop revolving restaurant is certainly a novelty and should be tried just for the views - but again, do not expect a gastronomic delight. If you want that, go to La Perla!

Room Tip: The higher the better

I visit Cape Town for business at least once a year and I am always returning to Ritz Hotel - last time just a few weeks ago, in February 2014. I like the rooms, the view, the swimming pool, the breakfast and, with a few exceptions during the past four years, the all over friendly and service minded staff. This year, however, Ritz Hotel has a new management, and I notice that the entire staff, old and new faces, has become even more friendly and eager to make their guests happy. So - thanks very much to Sasha and the reception staff, and to the breakfast and room service staff for making my stay so easy and pleasant. I will definitely return to Ritz Hotel on my next visit to Cape Town. Regards, Anne-Marie Tangen, Cadans Culture of Norway

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter Higher floors have less A/C unit noise

This was our fourth stay at the Cape Town Ritz Hotel and we will certainly stay here again. It is in an excellent location, with an easy 5 minute taxi ride to the V & A (costing between 40 and 50 Rand each way). The rooms are not luxurious, but are perfectly acceptable for people who do not want to spend their holidays in their room. Toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities are in the room. The bed was very comfortable. There was a very good choice at breakfast and the food was plentiful. (Sometimes, when a large party arrived for breakfast there was a little queuing for the freshly cooked items.) Staff were VERY friendly and exceedingly helpful. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms on the upper floors have better views and are more expensive. There is revolving roof-top...

It was really good we came there an little late, but nevertheless the reception was very good. We were not the only people arriving late, i think it might be because finding you way in the Cape is not that easy, specially when you are new to that side of the country, like us.

Room Tip: Higher is always better.
