At the beginning of our stay in Cape Town we had 4 nights (3 people) in an apartment at the Waterfront marina area, which was most economical choice for us. We were returning 1 week later for 2 nights and as apartment was not available, rang the Commodore (we had seen its sign from a distance) due to its location near the Waterfront to see if they had a room which would accommodate 3. They didn't but he said he would offer a good deal, and so we decided to take it. The location is ideal - quick walk to centre of action at V & A Waterfront. Secure. Staff super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and was fine. Parking was available @ 75 rand per day - and concierge park it and get it for you when you need it. I forgot to ask for non smoking, and upon entry to our room, realised - rang reception and it was not a problem we were moved straight away, even though we had checked in a bit early. If this hotel suits your budget, don't hesitate to book it, as we found it very friendly, relaxed, effecient and well located.

Room Tip: Non smoking (3rd floor).

If you like firm beds this one's for you - if you don't there's not much you can do about it. Room was a little small for my liking but the good thing was an openable window. It's in a tourist-oriented area, so you're away from the more genuine Cape Town, although it is only a 20 minute walk away. If you're concerned about security and personal safety, then a touristy area is probably a good place to stay. It's a five minute walk to the V&A Waterfront, and lots of shops if this is your bent. Staff were quite friendly altho didn't always re-stock the makings of coffee and tea, and on two of the six days had to ask for this to be done. Rooms were kept neat and tidy. Ordered room service once and it was prompt and also good quality food.

As a base in Cape Town this is excellent. 5 minutes walk to the V&A Waterfront which has great bars and restaurants. Generally helpful staff, some very, some less so, but all very friendly. Good breakfast and a great and well equipped gym.

Stayed for 8 days in February, overall very good value (they had a stay 7 days or more for 50% deal online). Rooms were nice and serviced by the cleaning staff twice a day though there's not a lot of free space in the rooms. Room had small balcony, which was nice to let in fresh air, but not big enough or furnished to enable sitting outside on it.

The staff were very friendly and it seemed like every aspect of service was staffed 24/7. I could come back from a late dinner and drinks and still book a tour for the next morning! The concierge were always helpful, as was the front desk.

Did not eat at the hotel as it is so close to the V&A Waterfront, which you can eat amazing food at (however in camps bay the food will be just as good, on the beach, and 1/3 the price). It was a 2 minute walk to the Waterfront, in the late evenings you'd sometimes have kids begging on the way to and fro, nothing frightening, but they were insistent.

One day the hotel gave notice that no water would be available due to city works from 11pm to 4am, things didn't go according to plan and there was no water until much later in the day (early evening). While the staff was friendly and brought up bottles of water to wash your face/brush teeth, there was no real compensation (ie like a free day on next visit or even a bar voucher which would have seemed a nice gesture).

Overall I would go back to the hotel if I went back to the Waterfront area, its got a nice pool area and outdoor courtyard for drinks with great staff. That said Camps Bay will probably be where I stay next time.

Thank you for for your views on the hotels service and standard and it was a real pleasure to hear what you had to say. I have always maintained that our staff and their approach to the bussiness and our guests is what really make the hotel and creates memories that can be taken home. Just a pity about the water crisis we were faced with, which was a burst pipe on the V & A Waterfronts main pipe line.

I hope that you were able to enjoy all the sights and sounds that Cape Town has to offer and look forward to welcoming you back. If there is anything that we can do in future please do not hesitate to contact me.

The hotel is a nice base in Cape Town - close enough to walk to and from the V&A even at night but not on the front so slightly cheaper than some. Breakfast is great. The rooms and rest of the hotel is good.
