we stayed for 3 nights, during August 2012, in two connecting rooms. we are a couple with 2 children of 4 & 7. the hotel is very well located on the victoria & alfred waterfront. overall this is a pleasant establishment with a very friendly and courteous staff but the hotel gives the impression of being in need of refurbishment, the bathrooms are outdated, the bathtowels are all a bit gray, the heating system is very noisy, television has only local channels . No health center on premisis. Excellent breakfast

Room Tip: ask for a room facing table mountain

We stayed here to save money!!! We would have stayed at One and Only or Cape Grace. However we can highly suggest this. True only 4*, True no swimming pool, (but you can use the one at their 5* prpoerty across the road, True no entertainment or late night bar and no bussiness centre. BUT you get the friendliest, most helpful, staff I have ever known. From the front desk manager, to the reception staff, the guest services conciege, restaurant manager and waiters, room service, housekeeping, porters and security, our every whim was answered. Get a room overlooking the harbour or table mountain or both like us. No balconies that I know of, but downstairs breakfast cvan be served outside and drinks Al Fresco whenever you want. Their private taxi company is exceptional. Their restaurant and music choices very good. We dont like Pigalle but they sent us to small venues we loved. My partner was ill and the chef made boiled rice and bannas especially. A family recipe for the runs!! Breakfast as good as anywhere in the world. Oysters raw or the best Oyster rockerfeller I have ever had in 45 year of eating them since the first time in Grand central Station in the 1960's!!! The security walked us to every restaurant we wanted to go to. The front desk manager acted as our private vallet. The heating in our room didnt work so one of the staff went home to get us their own heater!!!
I could go on and on. The transfer in the hotel car to hermanus was 2/3rds the price of another company. We went to save money but couldnt have payed for what we received. Please give them a try. Good service needs ite rewards.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking harbour and table mountain, worth the extra. Have Oysters rockerfella fo...

Surely the best place to stay if you feel like some days at the waterfront: shopping and all sorts of restaurants. Best get a room at the sea-side; the rooms on the other side could get a little noisy with outdoor activities taking place in the evening. Spacious room. Great breakfast.

We are a young couple and we spent our first few nights of our holiday in this hotel. From arrival to departure the staff were helpful and friendly. The room was clean and spacious. We were very central in the V&A, a two minute walk from a variety of amazing restaurants and bars. We would like to thank Slyvester on reception for all of his help :) We would highly recommend this hotel to all holiday makers!

C stands for Capetown, charismatic and charming city. Was here August 10-15, 2012 for a company-sponsored tour. They certainly did not take any chances. The choice of hotel could not have been more correct than Victoria & Alfred. Upon check-in, how about a glass of champagne? The always cheerful and ever courteous staff immediately change whatever concept you have of African culture. The room is spacious (including a 4-chair dining table!) and colorful (hues of blue, burgundy and gray). The bed lean but comfortable. The shower has the strongest water pressure in any hotel I've ever been, making for a squeaky clean bath. Some rooms have a captivating view of table mountain. Cable channels are few but as long as there is CNN and the Olympics, who cares? Breakfast is a truly culinary experience. Aside from the usual continental with cheese, crackers, croissant, capers, carrot and cucumber sticks, how about Rockefeller oysters, calf's liver, codfish and African capuccino. The fruit cocktail has the sweetest cantaloupe and honey dew melon. The chef can be so creative: we craved for garlic rice and he gladly obliged! Next time, crusted chicken curry perhaps? Turn down service includes different flavored chocolates nightly. The concierge is a champion for customer satisfaction; when our phone was accidentally hung, he came up and knocked to make sure we didn't miss our wake-up call. Of course, the hotel is conveniently located in the waterfront which means you can choose to shop for clothes, crafts, curios, music cd's and even cheap buys (must mention African trading port). Also restaurants of various cuisines (Belgian, Italian, German, Thai and more; no Chinese though). Your camera should always be ready to click away. Behind the hotel is a giant Olympic lego-like figure made of Coca-cola cases (clever!). They even have their own version of the London eye. To cap the night, you can chat and chill at Mitchell's brewery with a combination of beer and fish & chips. You might even catch a cool band. If anything else is concerned, consider the nearby mall. Overall a can't-forget trip. So whether it be for a conference or to bring the children, it would be common sense to come back to this hotel without compromise and beyond compare. In closing, I must confess that while composing this review, I clearly and consciously included words beginning with a C. If you were counting, it included 94 characters collectively. Ciao!

Stayed here for 5 nights, and it couldn't have been a better choice for a city stay, as really you can walk to many places from here as it is right on a nice place in the Waterfront. The service was amazing: they took care of restaurant reservations extremely well and with patience, as we changed our mind several times! On two days we had early excursions and departures they brought breakfast to our room at no extra charge. The breakfast was excellent: fresh fruit, eggs on order, etc.

The room has a very good size. We were on the piazza side, so not an special view, but it was good.

The beds were incredibly comfortable.

I would highly recommend to stay here.

The last time we stayed a little distance form the V&A Waterfront - but this time in CT we chose the Victoria & Alfred Hotel. The Mall,Aquarium, Boarding points and a variety of shopping all within the vicinity of the Hotel makes it an ideal location. You can watch the live Musicians do their Songs and Dance from the comfort of your room. The service is professional and polite - the breakfast spread is amazing and one can have a hearty South African breakfast (among other great choices) to start the day off.The barmen are friendly and polite - check out the Spanish Corn at the bar - very nice.
The views are amazing on either side of the Hotel - Piazza Facing or Table Mountain View - Personally we preferred aPiazza Facing Room. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

My only disappointment was for the Pool and Spa facilities one has to go out of the Hotel to the Queen Victoria Hotel.
