Picturesque hotel with lots of charm, wonderful staff and beautiful rooms. The breakfast was varied and tasty.
The only downside is that our rooms were above the bar/restaurant entrance (rooms 111/112) and on a Thursday and Friday night there were a a lot of noisy drinkers and the windows are too thin. One night our non smoking room had a smoke filled bathroom. Even with ear plugs it was hard to avoid the noise.
That said I would recommend the hotel just maybe avoid the rooms we had.

Stayed here for 4 nights on this, our first trip to South Africa. Had considered upmarket hotels on the V&A waterfront which were twice the price but glad we came here. Had room 107 which was enormous with a huge 4 poster comfy bed, sofa, massive bathroom with huge bath with view of mountains. Service impeccable and great bars and restaurants available in heritage square. V&A waterfront only a 50rand (£3) cab fare away so plenty of options. Fabulous service from lovely people.

We spent three nights at the Cape Heritage Hotel. People were friendly and very helpful. It was right around the corner form the Hop On Hop Off bus stop, which we found to be a great way to see Cape Town for the first time! The room was comfortable, and we loved the artwork throughout the hotel. We enjoyed the full breakfast that was provided.

The Cape Heritage was recommended to us by friends and we stayed for four nights. I had some reservations as the hotel is in the downtown area and does not have a pool. However, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left we could not have been better looked after. The service was wonderful and attentive. The hotel is beautiful and you get a real sense of its history as soon as you enter it. From the outside the hotel looks like nothing very special but when you come through the door you realise how special it is. I particularly loved the courtyard behind the hotel, with the ancient vine but also an art gallery, a beauty salon, a wine shop and several restaurants. We had lunch there the first day and got chatting to the lady who owns the art gallery, who recommended her favourite dishes on the menu and approved our choice of wine! I just loved the friendliness and wonderful atmosphere. We would have breakfast each morning under the vine (the hot breakfasts were excellent) and then head out to explore Cape Town. Even if the hotel had had a pool I don't think we would have had time to use it so this really didn't matter to us. After a long hot day of activities (Robben Island, Table Mountain etc etc) it was always lovely to re-enter the sanctuary of the Cape Heritage. Our room was a standard but still very large with a big bathroom (which had both a bath and a shower). We caught a glimpse of some of the other rooms during our stay and they all seem to be individually decorated but lovely. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I will definitely stay here again.

This is one of the best city hotels I have ever stayed at. With a penchant for character, I have always been drawn to historic hotels. This is not without its risks – think musty curtains, dodgy plumbing, creaking stairs and dark, pokey rooms. Not this one. I don’t quite know how they have done it, but the Cape Heritage Hotel in Cape Town is the perfect blend of old and new.

One of the oldest buildings in Cape Town, the hotel has been perfectly preserved. The walls are at least half a meter thick, with deep-set sash windows. The original wooden stairs are solid (and cleverly carpeted in the middle). There are fresh, modern fabrics throughout and the décor is both tasteful and creative. Local vibrant South African art celebrates the context and brings colour and texture to every room. Beautiful modern-but-traditional wall-mounted lights fittings and chandelier add elegance and grandeur. The hotel prides itself on its glamorous and spacious bathrooms, which are a delight to experience.

A sumptuous breakfast is served in the sunny courtyard next to the oldest living grape vine in the city.

Accommodation Experience:
Unusually, I choose one of the standard rooms at the Cape Heritage Hotel, because I have fallen in love with the elegant bath placed in the bedroom up against a high window. The bed is equally pretty and superbly comfortable. I wake early and roll over to find a perfectly positioned light fitting within easy reach. I look around and realise that every single luxury feature in the room is well chosen, and perhaps more importantly, functions effectively. There are thoughtful extra features – a well placed extending mirror in the bathroom, a glass jar with cotton wool, a heated towel rail. I have a moment, like at the end of a great stage performance, where I want to first sit silently nodding in appreciation, then break out in quiet, slow, lengthy applause.

The Cape Heritage is a 'Quirky' (intentional) shabby chic, (intentional), hotel on centrally situated Bree st. It is charming. the rooms are individual, very clean & comfortable. Heritage Square is also the location of some of the finest restaurants in the town....namely.... bizerca & savoy cabbage ...(book in advance)
The staff were courteous, & most helpful....arranging day trips & airport taxi on our departure. Breakfast was freshly cooked & plentiful....served al fresco under one of the oldest vines on the Cape.
We relaxed in the roof-top Jacuzzi at the end of the day ......alas, no view of Table Mountain (obscured by a high rise)
Would we stay here again ? YES.....(probably up-grade to a larger room)
