“Should be a 5 rating but spoilt by noisy wine bar next door”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

This hotel is like a Hotel du Vin of Cape Town, and would have received a fulsome 5 blob rating from me for its ambience, beautiful rooms, large bathrooms with separate showers, little treats and delightful welcome and friendly response to requests. BUT...

..I was in Room 115 on a Friday night and around 9pm a loud disco beat started to shake the room and pound away with a dull rhythm until a quarter after midnight. On looking at the hotel fire escape map on the back of the door, I could see that this was coming from the wine bar next door and across the little space directly outside the window. Apparently this would be repeated on Saturday night (it continues only until 11pm the rest of the week). Despite calling down to express dismay, there was nothing they could do as the hotel was full. They did move me for the 2nd night. When booking here you must check they do not put you in 115 (others have commented on 110 suffering from noise) as you will not get any sleep.

It was disappointing that, despite accepting that it was completely unacceptable, nothing was taken off the bill, nor as it was prepaid, was an offer of a partial refund or some other recompense made. Had they down this, I would have probably awarded a four blob score, so good is every other aspect of the hotel.

It is such as shame, as I would really recommend staying here in every other respect.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 115 on Friday and Saturday night

What a lovely 'boutique' hotel. The room I had was spacious, with a balcony overlooking the central courtyard area. The bathroom was huge, with a freestanding bathtub. Breakfast was also delicious. This hotel's great value for what's on offer combined with its location. Great service too.

I have tried hard to find something negative to say about this place, and I am normally good at that. Theres allways something you can crtisize - but at Cape Heritage there is none!
The house is one of the oldest remaining buildings in downtown CT and the restauration of it is done respectfully and with very good taste.
The old 25 cm wide wooden planks are visible everywhere and the fireplace in the little room by the entrance is actually working and fired up occasionally. That room is also where guests are greeted and sat down to fill out the registre - not standing in some cold lobby. Good idea!
The room we stayed in was romantic and old school with a moderne bath and shower.
The cross between the old and the modern is something they do well at the Cape Heritage!
Across from the hotel yard theres one of the hippest clubs/restaurants I have seen for a long time! Good food and wine and cool urban lifestyle, right at your doorstep.
All members of staff were extremly friendly and was offering a very nice and polite service. a kind of service I have not seen more than a couple of places in the world.
theres a nice and homy feeling to the place and that is well done!
Keep it up Cape Heritage. We are coming back!!

Room Tip: All rooms are nice, but the suites are nicer!

Stayed for 7 nights in total and as we went away on overnight trips we stayed in 3 rooms- the great thing is every room is different but all very comfortable and unique. The staff were very helpful, arranging car hire, tickets etc and giving general advice. Breakfast was really good- buffet and/or a choice of cooked breakfasts.Easy to get a taxi or walk-c 20 minutes-to the V and A. There are a number of restaurants around the Courtyard of the Hotel ( they do not disturb you) e.g the Savoy Cabbage/ Bistrot Bizerca we ate at both and were very impressed. There are other bars and restaurants nearby.Highly recommended especially if you prefer good quality boutique hotels rather than Hotel chains

This is a Boutique Hotel with real character, each room is different unlike so many modern hotels where it looks as though they came off a mass production line.
The service offered by the staff is excellent, nothing is too much trouble. Although a taxi ride away from the Waterfront there are excellent restaurants within a few yards across an enclosed court yard.t

We had a wonderful stay at the very inviting Cape Heritage Hotel. The staff was very warm & friendly, and the breakfasts were great. The hotel is a short cab ride (also walkable) to the V&A waterfront and and easy walk to a bevy of shops and restaurants. In fact, there were a couple of great restaurants on the same block as the hotel! I recommend this place for any first time visitor to Cape Town.

I was a solo traveler staying for both work and fun, and Cape Heritage was the perfect spot. Extremely comfortable room and amenities, including a great shower and tub. The staff was warm and helpful. The free wireless internet was fast and reliable, and the included breakfast was also great. Just steps from fantastic restaurants and bars. I won't stay anywhere else in Cape Town again. Beautiful decor and spacious rooms. Highly recommend.
