“African-themed room with beautiful bathroom”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

A very enjoyable two-night stay in a clean, spacious and comfortable city centre hotel. The room was African-themed and well-appointed, with a beautiful bathroom. Breakfast was well-cooked, and evening meals were taken in a nearby restaurant across the Courtyard. The doors to any un-occupied rooms are left open, and all of the rooms are individually designed and equally delightful. The Hotel is centrally situated for exploring Cape Town.

Room Tip: Traffic noise and/or early bin-collection lorries may disturb in some rooms.

Wonderful hotel, each room has it's own individual character. Beautiful atmoshphere, staff very friendly. I especially enjoyed the breakfasts in the courtyard. The location is very central.. Street noise can be a problem but I found it added to the charm.

Room Tip: All the rooms are individually furnished. Ask the staff to help you choose the right one.

We have stayed here twice and both times it's been great. Lovely hotel, lovely big rooms with fab bathrooms and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It has a very personal feel to it and the breakfasts are lovely. Will stay there again.

I have travelled to more than 130 cities in the world and stayed in many many hotels, guesthouses, lodges etc. of top and medium ranks. But our stay in Cape Heritage definitely ranks amongst the top 10 (or even top 5).
The building is beautiful and one of the oldest in Cape town, it is tastefully decorated with a mix of antique and trendy style, with lots of charm and personality, the facility (bathrooms and showers) are recently -and nicely- renovated, and the location is most conveniently located in the middle of everything and walking distance to all sites. There 5 restaurants attached to the premises, of which we tried two and both were very nice (a statehouse called HQ and the French restaurant), and both were very nice. The breakfast is also very nice and of good quality, plus an option to order hot meal.
But of all good things about the hotel, the best part yet is the staff! The staff of this hotel are not only extremely service oriented, they are so genuinely friendly and kind that they make the whole difference in the way you experience this hotel. We were there with our 2 years old son, with all the mess a toddler his age can make, yet all we received was caring and kindness, which we are very impressed and grateful for that.
We will most certainly be back to CT - which we loved- and can not think of any better place to stay!

Room Tip: The hotel is located in the heart of CT downtown, in the middle of restaurants and wine-bars, so if...

This hotel is like a Hotel du Vin of Cape Town, and would have received a fulsome 5 blob rating from me for its ambience, beautiful rooms, large bathrooms with separate showers, little treats and delightful welcome and friendly response to requests. BUT...

..I was in Room 115 on a Friday night and around 9pm a loud disco beat started to shake the room and pound away with a dull rhythm until a quarter after midnight. On looking at the hotel fire escape map on the back of the door, I could see that this was coming from the wine bar next door and across the little space directly outside the window. Apparently this would be repeated on Saturday night (it continues only until 11pm the rest of the week). Despite calling down to express dismay, there was nothing they could do as the hotel was full. They did move me for the 2nd night. When booking here you must check they do not put you in 115 (others have commented on 110 suffering from noise) as you will not get any sleep.

It was disappointing that, despite accepting that it was completely unacceptable, nothing was taken off the bill, nor as it was prepaid, was an offer of a partial refund or some other recompense made. Had they down this, I would have probably awarded a four blob score, so good is every other aspect of the hotel.

It is such as shame, as I would really recommend staying here in every other respect.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 115 on Friday and Saturday night
