The hotel itself is great - each room is individual and when we arrived we were given the choice of rooms (the fun thing is when the rooms are unoccupied they leave the doors open and you are welcome to look at all the other rooms). The rooms are furnished beautifully and all have expansive bathrooms with nice amenities. The beds are super comfy.

I can't rave enough about the staff - everyone helps with restaurant suggestions, sightseeing ideas and just general helpfulness to ensure your stay is perfect.

As to location - we decided to stay in the city so we could get a feel for the city as opposed to the purely tourist areas of the VA waterfront. The hotel is easily positioned for the sightseeing bus, and greenmarket square is less than 5 mins walk and the museums and castle - 10 mins. At night it isn't safe to walk around - however to get to VA waterfront it was 5 mins in a taxi and less than $10. There are also some great restaurants right next to the hotel. The Africa cafe was a lot of fun, and a great way to experience the African cuisine (and well priced).

Overall we loved the stay here and couldn't fault anything.

This was the first place I stayed on my recent trip to SA. My knowledge of Cape Town was limited so I booked this hotel based on previous Trip Advisor reviews. Firstly, the hotel is lovely and the staff are very friendly and attentive.

The good:
Lovely rooms and very tastefully decorated
Friendly and attentive staff

The bad:
1. Location is not great. The centre of Cape Town is a ghost town after dark. The only street with any activity is Long street. The V&A waterfront is where all the tourist activity seems to be and the only way to get there is by taxi after dark. Also downtown Cape Town is not safe for tourists to wander by themselves at night. A taxi is a necessity if you want to go anywhere.
2. Breakfast is pretty ordinary fare and cooked breakfast is charged extra. Based on the other establishments I stayed in, the breakfast at Cape Heritage was the bottom of the list.
3. Internet connection was flaky. The connection kept dropping which makes it annoying when trying to book items online or just use the web in general.

Overall we enjoyed our time at this hotel. However it is not cheap and for that reason it needs to deliver 100% satisfaction. Finally the hotel does provide a very handy chauferring service (if you need a short drive to/from the hotel to anywhere in the city). This is very handy but please beware that you will be billed for this service on checkout and it is not free. The hotel does mention that it charges for this service in the booklet provided in each room but if you don't read the booklet you could be mistaken into thinking this was a complimentary service.

I stayed there for five nights. The first night was very noisy due to a wedding taking place in the courtyard and the fact that the wedding party was staying at the hotel. The stairs creaked with every footstep outside the room. The breakfasts were not commendable and were not inclusive of the rather exorbitant charge per night. The daily tour company recommended by the front desk was far from acceptable and a waste of money and time. The location is not recommended for tourists due to its distance from the the V&A Waterfront, and the crime rate prevalence around the area. I would definitely recommend staying at the V&A waterfront in preference to the Cape Heritage Hotel. I chose the latter because I thought it would be a more authentic locaton and experience. Very disappointed. As a single person, I didn't find the hotel staff very friendly or helpful.

enjoyed our stay in cape heritage hotel- firstly the hotel is quite quirky/ funky in itself- -the room was good although for the cost probably a little expensive- it can be quote noisy in the bedrooms due to the courtyard and the internet wasnt working most of the time we were there -on the poistive side ; service is what distinguishes this hotel as all staff were extremely good and gave great advise on where to go, hotel taxi was avaialble too which was very convenient finailly the courtyard was great too with a great vibe and the food was excellent, would highly recommend HQ. thisn is a great advantage as one doesnt have to leave the hotel space at night and you have the choice of 3 restaurants and bars, overall very happy with the hotel

Stayed 3 nights at the Cape Heritage - this was our third visit. Location is great and staff fantastic. Parking right next door and 3 restaurants on your doorstep if it rains (or even if it doesn't). a few minutes walk from Long Street and very near some great restaurants (try 'Fork' - great food). The Hotel, surrounded by restaurants and a couple of bars can be a little noisy, especially early in the morning when deliveries arrive, but if you want peace and quiet go out to the suburbs: if you want to get up and immediately be downtown for shopping/lunching/sightseeing this location is great.

Me and my wife stayed in South Africa and Cape Town for the first time this October. After reading many reviews and carefully selecting the area we wanted to stay in, we picked the Cape Heritage Hotel. We had intense mail contact with Semwano (the manageress) before we arrived and she had with great enthusiasm and friendliness arranged everything from booking fantastic Restaurants to Car-rental and Safari (with flight bookings).
Obviously our expectations were sky high.
We arrived early after a long flight and were shown to our beautiful and cosy room where we could rest before we were served a nice breakfast with fresh fruits and coffee in the courtyard. We immediately felt at home.
Everyone working at the Hotel did their absolute best to make our stay as memorable and comfortable as possible.
One day when they found out we were to walk up the table Mountain they immediately arranged a small basket of fruits, snacks and water, even for my friends who didn’t even stay at the same Hotel.
The Hotel is perfectly located near the Congress Center (15min walking) ,Waterfront and the nearby shopping on Long-street. Several very nice restaurants are situated in the same block including the Savoy Cabbage which was very nice . During the night or late evening you don’t feel comfortable walking around in CapeTown (some people might but we didn’t) which made it extra nice to have the courtyard with restaurants , jazz and wine bar in the same block .
I can honestly say that our high expectations were all met and the Safari (Motswari Game Resort) was fantastic.

The whole experience from booking to departure was an exercise in professionalism from these people. The rooms are individual and you are able to look around at the free rooms - a bit like a free art exhibition! The Heritage Square area is very chic and close to the city centre and there is no shortage of restaurants at various prices. When we did have a problem at the hotel - with noise from a local shop - the staff dealt with it immediately. In fact, the staff did everything to make you feel at home - we can thoroughly recommend this hotel.
