What a lovely hotel. Perfectly situated especially if you are conferencing. Very friendly staff (most of them are still there from my previous visit 17 months ago) and they still remembered me! A really beautiful hotel.

If you know Southern Sun quality in South Africa, then this is it at its semi best. When there is so much else to compete with in the V&A Waterfront and Cape Town including some spectacular B&B's, i recommend this hotel with caution.

It is well located. Close to the city center and the V&A Waterfront as well as having convenient access to the N2 and other freeways (high ways). It is also just opposite the International Convention Center and as such offers good value for money.

However, service is slow. Not all the rooms have a nice view and in fact our room this time was facing on to the Protea Hotel at the back of the Cullinan and it did nothing for us. It was dark and awful.

The rooms however are clean and functional and the bathrooms reasonably 'modern' and functional too.

I believe there is a gym and a pool which was closed to the regular public due to a company event on at the time of our stay.

There were many tour buses that stopped off and it made for busy meal times but actually the hotel coped extremely well considering. Having said that, the food was just OK. We had been staying across the road in the Westin and had to move to the Cullinan for business purposes. It did not compare at all. The Cullinan's food was bland and boring comparatively and while it would do if you were just passing by for functional reasons, I would not choose this hotel if it was for a holiday to remember.

I wanted room service one night and it took several calls including one to the concierge before I finally got an order in. It arrived promptly I might say, but it was really uninspired cuisine that left me wishing I was back at the Westin for sure.

There are the usual amenities in the room - safe, comp coffee and tea, TV and wifi etc. Be warned, your choice of TV programmes is not wide so you have to settle for mediocre.

And that about sums up our stay in this hotel - mediocre and functional.

Good breakfasts with a wide range of choice - a huge plus against everything else the hotel offers.

Contrary to other reviewers, I felt this hotel was tired in its appearance and needing a contemporary uplift. Rooms not facing the sea are dark and dingy and small. So be sure to ask for rooms higher up with a view if you have the chance.

There is apparently a gym and a pool. We could not access the pool during our stay due to a conference that was being hosted - :-(

The garage is inside the hotel and it was very accessible which is a positive. However, you will pay ZAR60 per night.

Apparently there is a free shuttle to the V&A regularly - I did not have reason to use it since I had my own car.

A good solid three star hotel. Reasonable value for money. Definitely not 4 star or above for sure. Shop around. You deserve better!

Room Tip: I believe it is better to ask for a room with a view and high up. Make sure you don't get a room...

Had a lovely stay here for 3 nights, wished we had come back at the end of our hol!! Very helpful staff.Good food & nice room & shower. First night .. Rose petals on the bed & complementary wine. Free shuttle service to V & A but also walked (only 10 mins) Would have liked warmer breakfast if you were later in the morning & the pool area was changed around so the seating wasn't as it should have been after first day due to an event/function. Friendly staff - would recommend & go back there!

This is a great Hotel. The rooms are well decorated and very spacious and the food in the restaurant was very good. The buffet breakfast was very good quality and plentiful. The staff were friendly and great to deal with.
This is a hotel which is a good business hotel and would also serve really well for a couple's weekend.
Location is good and there is a shuttle to the waterfront.
The only criticism I could think of is the pool is outdoor so not great if you are staying during the winter.

This hotel is centrally located with easy access to the freeway, the Waterfront, Table Mountain and all of the tourist attractions. The staff are very courteous. The room is your standard Southern Sun type.
