Owner description: This street has always been Cape Town’s main street, from its earliest days as an elegant shady walkway to its present dense throng of storefronts.

Adderley Street has seen better days but does boast some very interesting architecture worth a second look. Plenty of banks and shops to keep you occupied

This road, a central road in the city used to be elegant in its day with some top stores but sadly its lost its charm. Nowadays its a bit rough on the edges and not the classy Boulevard it once was. At Christmas time its worth driving down it once to see the lights but thats about it.

Over-rated "attraction"I did not feel safe, with very little effective policing around or visible. I certainly would take care walking around here too late. The area was very crowded with mass of traffic, buit within walking distance of most down-town attractions and house of parliment, Iziko museum etc

Adderley street in the centre of Cape Town is also it's main street. There is nothing special about it as it is always crowded and there are many hawker stalls along the pavements. Having said that it does have some redeeming aspects - the xmas lights during the festive season - a famous section with flower sellers and a few monuments.

There is also a night market where the street is closed to all traffic in the evenings and a semi carnival atmosphere happens usually around the new year. The length of Adderley street has a unique cycle lane - the only completely dedicated one in SA and also hosts the Cape mistral parade on 2nd January each year.

Experience the hustle and bustle of Cape Town during the week as people commute via Adderly street and walk the streets on their way to local businesses.
