“Beautiful little place”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Only passing through on a day tour... But the fish and chips were great!!!

Pretty little place and worthy of a couple of hours if you are touring the Cape.

“Overated Do not have high expectations”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

Vastly overated

The commercial aspect in some parts is intrusive

The bird park is definitely worth a visit

For a reason I do not fully understand the sense of fishing village is lost

Souvinere shops are tacky and scream commercial let us cash in on tourists

“a little of everything”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

hout bay is a great little suburb easy reached by bus from cape town if you don't have transport. it's big enough to offer a few shopping malls, some good restaurants and a nice beach. so it could be a good day trip for anyone who wants to get out of cape town for a day. last time i was there i happened to sit next to jackie chan, the chinese movie star, in a restaurant in the harbour.

“Fishing Village Experience”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

this is what makes the Cape so great, within 20 minutes from central town one can escape to a fishing village and get completely lost in the moment. First, the drive from Cape Town is most scenic as you amber long the coast over a hilltop to get into the Republic of Hout Bay. A stop at Mariner's wharf is a must for good olde fashion fish and chips. Buy and ice cream and one can walk around the pier looking at the fishing trawlers and people feeding seals while appreciating the view of Chapmans Peak. If your timing is right, you can witness fish being offloaded from the fishing trawlers. Photos are a must. A drive to the canons is interesting and a drive to the nearby beach is worth the while. Dunes, an Italian restaurant on the beach is both scenic and offers good food. great place to laze a lunch with kids.
