Silvermine is only about an hours drive from Cape Town's centre. There are great walks that have views of Noodehoek and Constantia. There is a small lake and areas set aside for picnics. There is no enterance fee.

Park your car and stroll along the boardwalk to select your picnic spot on the banks of the reservoir. Braai (barbeque) places with seating are kept very clean and one can swim in the reservoir (cold water). The birdlife is good and small fish can be caught. In late Spetember the Keurbooms (purple flowering trees) are magnificent and strolling the boardwalk under them one is serenanaded by the bumble bees. The more adventurous can hike up one of the many paths which prvide good walks with manificent views.

What a surprise! A tented campsite practically in our back garden. Courteous and professional camp hosts/ rangers. Spotless facilities. Incredible value for money. Recommended for those who prefer the experience of very comfortable camping.

IF you want some seriously good MTB rides, try starting at the Silvermine entrance and head up. It is a tough cycle but the views are spectacular. For the tough cyclist, try going up the Ou Wapad from the bottom. Going down is much easier.

Silvermine is a great place to go if you are training for a triathlons and want to swim in the dam, training for a mountain bike race or trail run. It's accessible hiking or running from Constantia Nek via Valkkenberg and Blackburn Ravine or Chapmans Peak or on your mountain bikes via the wagon track from Noordhoek side or level 5 from Tokai arboretum.
If you just wan to take the kids for a swim, run around or chill the dam is great and there are braai facilities too. The toilets are clean and well tended. Dogs are also allowed I'm the dam and in Silvermine with an appropriate permit but they are only allow at the front edges of. The dam and not in the braai areas. A great area for most fitness levels.
