I have been frequenting Dinkel for a long time. The coffee is excellent and the cakes are always amazing. The "lunch time" bread rolls with a variety of cold meats are also a good option if you want something continental.

The staff are very friendly (I use the opportunity to practice my German) and if you are in time you can take home fresh bread.

Dinkel is my favourite bakery in Cape Town.

We stumbled on to this place by accident and we are glad we did. Authentic German baked goods along with a small breakfast menu. This place is on the main road that cuts through the mountain from Cape Town to Camps bay. People are friendly and service is good. Great place to stop in for a coffee.

First of all: the staff (owners?) are super friendly. They have a wonderful shady garden in the back where you can sit and read the paper or chill (no wifi and no German papers?!!). Pastry and bread selection was a bit poor and the plumb streusel not something to write home about. But they did have one brezel left (maybe for the last reviewer?!).

Thank Psasha

This little palce has been my favorite for a long time. But unfortunately lost its sparkle - no brezels anymore, bread difficult to get - even early in the morning, no cheesecake(which has been the best in town) and cold sausages(could be a once off). I have a feeling there is not anymore the passion behind it, what it used to be.
