“Peter Rabbit came to visit!”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

This cosy cafe is so cute with the theme of Beatrix Potter's "Peter Rabbit". On the day we went it was a cold and very rainy day in Cape Town. Once inside we were welcomed by a friendly waiter. He immediately informed us that the coffee machine was broken, so no lattes, cupaccinos were available but he had hot, fresh filter coffee. The menu had names from Beatrix Potter's books like Cotton Tail, Jemima, Flopsy. on the menu they had omelette, soup, warm Asian salad. Quesidilla. pancake, waffles. On the counter was a huge basket with wool and knitting needles. Anybody can pick up the wool and needles and "Knit-a- row-and go." The scarves will then be donated to needy children. We ordered Rosti and omelette with smoked salmon and Rocket. It was delicious. We enjoyed the morning.

“Breakfast was fine, nothing special”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

The place itself has a nice vibe, the menu is written all over the walls. Breakfast was okay, we enjoyed it but will not remember it forever.

“Not the best service”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

I had looked forward to experience Peter's House for a while, as I had read all of the amazing reviews. So my boyfriend and I finally decided to have dinner, as a 'cheap' Friday night supper option. We were not really greeted all that nicely when we arrived. Our female staff member half heartedly showed us our seating options, but then got distracted by a friend who walked in and forgot about us. We ordered the risotto and gnocchi and both were lovely, but not sure that the rating as "one of the cheaper restaurants in Cape Town" should apply, as the risotto was R70 without the optional bacon. The service got better towards the end of our visit, perhaps because we were served by a different lady later on and payment was taken by a different gentleman. It also seemed that everybody was a bit preoccupied with a large group of people that had taken up most of the space, so we did not always feel like a priority. Not necessarily the best place for a 'quiet' couples evening.
The carrot cake is great, but we opted to rather take it home with us than stay and eat it at Peter's House.

HI Katja, I am really sorry that you felt slightly neglected as we pride ourselves on great service. If it was the Friday I have in mind then it could have been our dear Silas's fare well dinner and party- if we were blacking out the windows and there was a speaker in the corner- he used to work here so I am sure he was getting spoilt with attention by the staff. Usually its not nearly as chaotic and is the perfect little spot for a romantic night out

“Nice, friendly little place”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

It has the feel of a 'hole in the wall' (a good thing!), but the food was tasty and the service great. Can be a bit busy at times. Not the place if you are looking for a fancy, elegant night out, but great if you just want a good meal at a reasonable price.

“Hump day”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

The Hump Day special sounded too good to be true, two pastas and two glasses of wine for R130, despite friendly and efficient service the pasta served was below average. My ostrich meatballs were hard and dry in the middle and the sauce on the pasta was uninspiring.
